Study shows that people of all political persuasions are willing to modify their beliefs based on corrective info from reliable sources, but “subjects ‘re-believed’ the false info when retested a week later.” 1/ news.northeastern.edu/2018/06/18/tir… 2/ The author of the article says It may help to warn people in advance that they are likely to forget the correction bc “this helps them mentally tag the bogus information as false.”

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings but elections have been electronically suspect starting long before the Trump/Russia scandal. This article is lulling folks into a false sense of security, which is dangerous. Domestic hackers & insiders were always an equal threat. 1/ 2/

I agree, tho not enuf time (and 0 political will) to do this in Nov. Wish it were different. For now I hope to stop states from doubling up on electronics w/ touchscreen ballot markers. Using electronics to count votes is bad enuf. Having them mark our ballots too is nuts. 1/ Nuts except for those who are unable to hand mark their ballots. Once you have hand marked paper ballots they can be either scanned or hand counted (my preference) or both. 2/

I’m hoping some of the cyber experts who signed the letter about the risks of using cellular modems to transfer election results can answer this question. Thx! @philipbstark @SEGreenhalgh @rad_atl @jhalderm P. 79 describes the modem elections.wi.gov/sites/default/…

Kathy Rogers, the face & voice of @ESSVote, which has installed CELLULAR MODEMS in tabulators in WI & FL, is cozying up to @DHSgov which refuses to advise states to remove the modems despite a letter from 30 cyber experts & EI groups stating it should do so. #CorruptElections 1/ Here’s the letter. drive.google.com/file/d/1-Fd8a8… 2/

The notion that cellular modems affect only “unofficial” results is bogus bc, among other reasons, in certain jurisdictions, unofficial results become the official results once added to absentees & provisionals—sometimes w/o ever comparing them to the precinct results tapes! 1/ And Wisconsin doesn’t even require that counties publicly post the results tapes so that the public itself can make this comparison! (I don’t know about Florida, Michigan, & Illinois.) 2/

This is dangerous election security propaganda bc it ignores that @WI_Elections allowed the installation of CELLULAR MODEMS in its tabulators starting in 2015, & refuses to remove them even after 30 cybersecurity experts & election integrity groups warned that it must. 1/ 2/

Georgia! The SAFE Commission violated GA Sunshine laws by wheeling & dealing over new voting equipment behind closed doors! Pls email them my sourced article (below) re: the unrzbl dangers of touchscreens generally & touchscreen barcode ballot markers specifically. @markniesse 1/ 2/ Kemp is hell bent on buying @ESSVote’s ExpressVote, the new machine of choice for jurisdictions with a history of suspect election outcomes. Don’t let it happen in Georgia - you have been through election hell already! medium.com/@jennycohn1/st…

Oh look! Paul Manafort was strategic partners w/ Mike Connell and Jeff Averbeck of Ohio 2004 election infamy. Remember when Connell re-routed Ohio’s results via a backup server to SmarTech in Tennessee. Before the main server crashed, Kerry was ahead. After, it was Bush. 1/ 2/

Without #paperballots, we can’t know 4 sure whether ballot-programming computers or voting machines have been rigged. But we CAN still detect rigging of central tabulators by comparing the POLL TAPES from each precinct to the REPORTED TOTALS, which is what a NEW MOTION in GA...1/ ... has asked Judge Totenberg to order county election officials to do. Note that this is also something that we as citizens can do if we send volunteers to each precinct (at least in the largest counties) to photograph the poll tapes. Trying to get them after the fact is ... 2/

What can we stil do to protect the midterms against hacking? First, we can micromanage county election officials to provide sufficient paper backups for touchscreen voting equipment and e-poll books, which are vulnerable to denial-of-service attacks. 1/ 2/ Second, we can demand that election officials in Wisconsin, Florida, Michigan, and Rhode Island NOT use the cellular modems they currently plan to use to transmit election results.

Kavanaugh & his former boss, Ken Starr, pursued Clinton relentlessly over a consensual albeit inappropriate affair. If you decide to vote by mail, make sure to follow the instructions exactly. If it asks you to put your signature and birthdate on the envelope, you must do that or your ballot will be tossed.1/ Photograph the signed ballot envelope and the application for your records. Make sure your ballot will arrive at the specified election office on or before Election Day - otherwise your ballot will be rejected. 2/

Even now, after all we’ve been through these past two years, many well-meaning people in positions of influence ignore election integrity 99% of the time. This negligent omission may well be the nail in the coffin of our democracy. @ACLU @dale_e_ho @peterdaou

I’m tired of it too. The most influential (media, legislators, etc) & largest accounts accounts (300k + followers) following me rarely RT or QT. When I DM them, some ask me not to and/or unfollow me. It’s not like they have election integrity covered elsewhere. #WeMayBeDoomed By the way, I do have some very large followers who consistently RT. And of course many smaller accounts who do that too. I appreciate both very very much! It just hasn’t been enough to break through Trump/Russia and the daily chaos. I don’t mean to throw shade on followers... 1/
