In #Naperville, which only recently went blue, we get mostly support but some push back. Here is how we do it:
Smile and wave at everyone
Ask people walking by if they are voting (or if they look young, if they are registered to vote./1 #StandOnEveryCorner

If no, we hand them a half-sheet of paper with 5 min online registration websites.
Sometimes we remind people we are there EVERY night until midterms, 6-7 and invite them to join us.
Or say, Vote, Midterms, Nov 6th
Most say yes, thumbs up, etc./2
