Grassley both-sidesing right off the bat: “Both Dr. Blasey Ford and Kavanaugh have had a terrible couple of weeks.” Did Kavanaugh have to move out of his home due to death threats or...? Grassley digging in on Feinstein keeping Dr. Blasey Ford’s letter confidential, right in front of Dr. Ford WHO REQUESTED FEINSTEIN DO SO, and not at all subtly implying that Democrats leaked the letter to media.

The White House tried to downplay the allegation against Kavanaugh as an “11th hour attempt to delay his confirmation,” yet Judiciary Republicans knew about it for long enough to be able to round up and get a letter from 65 women he went to high school with. 🤔 (I should’ve said “who knew him in high school” since he went to an all boys high school. That actually makes this stupid letter even less credible)

They moved millions of dollars from FEMA to ICE as hurricane season was ramping up If you’re wondering how this could happen: both agencies are under DHS, and this level of corruption is much easier to get away with when you create a massive umbrella agency with little oversight, and absorb/create a bunch of smaller agencies into it.

We are back here at the Capitol to #StopKavanaugh, until 8pm tonight in front of the Russell building. Get here! Judith Howell with SEIU, passionately, how dangerous Kavanagh is for workers.

Can the people who want Dems to walk out of this hearing so Kavanaugh’s confirmation will be remembered as flouting all norms and procedures name the three Trump cabinet members who were voted out of committee with zero Democratic votes just 19 months ago, without googling? People don’t tend to pay much attention or remember when historic violations of norms happen behind closed doors with no witnesses and no opposition. That’s where Republicans thrive.

A👏🏼quorum👏🏼is👏🏼presumed👏🏼unless👏🏼a Senator👏🏼suggests👏🏼its absence👏🏼and no👏🏼Republican👏🏼would👏🏼because👏🏼they want👏🏼to👏🏼confirm👏🏼Kavanaugh👏🏼

oh my god people. stop doing this and call your GOP Senators instead. my head is going to explode 🤯 Quorum calls are routinely used to create garbage time for the clerk to slooowly call roll and leave Senators to discuss/negotiate/otherwise delay votes. If there are 50 Repubs on the floor and they all want to confirm Kavanaugh, not one has reason to delay with a quorum call.

Just back from #ShutItDownDC. quick thoughts:

1. The unprecedented protection neo-Nazis continue to receive from police is unconscionable. I am from DC, have lived here my whole adulthood and have never seen a protestor group tended to the way these white supremacists have been. 2. @wmata has some explaining to do. After repeatedly stating that K*ssler & his Nazi pals wouldn’t get special treatment from Metro, all 20 or so of them (lol) got their own train car to ride to Foggy Bottom. Portions of Foggy Bottom’s platform were blocked so they could exit.

Here’s the interesting thing about this political moment: men pretending that women haven’t been full-throatedly screaming about & mobilizing against YEARS of attacks on Roe because they’d rather act like we didn’t do/aren’t doing enough than admit they just weren’t listening. Repro rights groups were & are at the forefront of the fight for justice in statehouses, in Congress, in the courts. If those battle cries didn’t make it into your echo chamber—and if you aren’t working now to help mobilize for the biggest fight of all—that’s entirely on you.

This is the political equivalent of being invited into someone’s home and demanding they gut and remodel it because you don’t like one of the bedrooms. Just hang out in a different part of the house. The Democratic party has spent too many years and too many resources trying to appease passersby like Comey at the expense of the people who built the house. Not anymore. You’re welcome inside, but you don’t get to dictate how every wing of the house is decorated.

This is a common misconception. Dems actually don’t need to be united as any specific one thing to win; the GOP will frame them as wacky socialists no matter how centrist the candidates (see: Conor Lamb). Dems can & should run as far left as their districts’ compositions allow. In some places that will look like Conor Lamb; in others it’ll look like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Let voters decide who they think will best represent them rather than trying to impose some arbitrary national standard meant to appease the GOP, who will attack us no matter what.

Something was bugging me about the September '16 hack of the DNC analytics (beyond that it would give an opponent much of what they'd need to figure out who to target & with what).

What was it? A couple weeks later, the Trump campaign abruptly & massively shifted their ad buys. It's not uncommon for a candidate to make some changes wrt advertising targets in the final weeks of a campaign, but in my experience a ~25% shift because you've suddenly identified "new battlegrounds" is...not typical (this was Trump's senior comms adviser).

Good morning. Here is a thread with some actions you can take to help migrant children, separated families, and families seeking asylum who are currently being imprisoned by the government. Donate to @asylumadvocacy (Asylum Seekers Advocacy Project), or sign up to volunteer if you're a lawyer, law student, or interpreter. ASAP runs essential programs including a a legal emergency room, & uses a remote representation model to reach detainees. asylumadvocacy.org/get-involved/
