Following up on a post from earlier in the week, I took another look at well-connected now-arrested Kremlin agent Maria Butina's well-connected Facebook friends.
aktivnyye.com/t/20180915-but… Persistent themes include ties to GRU assets, appearances on the News Front disinfo channel, ties to Dugin and the Eurasian movement, and ties to Kremlin subversion in the West, in addition to ties to people close to Putin.

🎶Maria
They all know a girl named Maria
So what if she's a spy
I really don't know why
you care🎶
aktivnyye.com/t/20180911-but… A thread about a sampling of Maria Butina's social network (mostly) in Russia, because who she is who she knows

@page88 Okay, I finally found time to listen to the podcast. As your guest said, it's certainly possible Trump was a CHS, which is pretty much what I say too. So that's validating (for me). But that doesn't get us any closer to knowing if, in fact, people covered for Trump. My own knowledge and experience with the CHS system is that it can be abused. It would take two agents and perhaps a Special Agent in Charge who at a minimum was willing to not look to closely.

McRaven: Revoke my security clearance, too, Mr. President
wapo.st/2OG8gCS?tid=ss… "Dear Mr. President:

Former CIA director John Brennan, whose security clearance you revoked on Wednesday, is one of the finest public servants I have ever known. Few Americans have done more to protect this country than John."

Data points, possibly not connected, but noted all the same.

Trump's statement re: stripping John @JohnBrennan of his security clearances was dated July 26.

Remember our dear comrade Devin Nunes, obstructor of justice extraordinaire? Seems his cover story for that recent trip to Azerbaijan is that he's the real man with a plan to fight Russia. No really: washingtonexaminer.com/policy/energy/…

Veteran Soviet KGB agent offers up insights and a critique of Butina as an intelligence asset.
kyivpost.com/article/opinio… What I find most interesting is the KGB guy's suggestion that Butina may have been one of a number of 'amateurs' deployed to USA by FSB (internal/counterintelligence) as part of competition with SVR (actual foreign intelligence service), only to be disastrously successful.

I realize it's busy for a Sunday, but don't let this one pass you by ⬇️ Montenegrin group with ties to Moscow hires Israeli PR guy noted for his 'kinder & gentler' election commercials for Netanyahu. Montenegrin security services are less than happy w/Israeli PR guy.

So there we are, me and Mrs. Webradius, in Israel circa the last two weeks of December, 2004. As background, the 2nd Intifada had been going on for the previous four years. Suicide bombings were regular occurrences, and security was tight. This was our first trip to Israel, and yours truly inadvertently set off every tripwire known to Shin Bet. Apparently I fit the profile of a right wing Jewish extremist from the USA. Which was ironic, given my actual background and reasons for traveling to Israel.

I'm finding this interesting in terms of the impact the announcement of new sanctions appears to be having on Russia, separate from any effects of new sanctions (which won't start for a couple of weeks, & that provide Trump with opportunities to try and mitigate the effects). In order, we've had the Helsinki meeting that from the Russian side appeared to go well, followed by revulsion in the US and Congressional pushback, followed by Senator Paul going to Moscow, seemingly to set things back upright, followed by State Dept. announcing new sanctions.

So yes, this is an interesting message from KSA to Canada:
"Nice city you have there, be a shame if a plane crashed into it." They had the sense to delete the tweet, airbrush out the plane, and repost. The original tweets exists here as an archive, in addition to all the screenshots of it:

As we had discussed, I undertook a sortie deep into the Red Sector during daylight, for to acquire solar LEDs string lights for the new protest sign. Despite my freak flag flying and our suspiciously fuel-efficient vehicle, ...festooned as it is with the "PISS OFF PUTIN - VOTE DEMOCRATIC" magnetic bumper sticker of the @HarleyRouda Campaign, I have returned unscathed, and our vehicle showing no obvious signs of bullet holes or other Red Hat vandalism.

I'll put this to you the way your Russian friends would: do you remember, @RudyGiuliani ? Wayne Barrett may be dead, but he left you a parting gift. It makes an interesting investigative chart. I call it TeamTrumpFBI. "Appearance of impropriety" doesn't come close to describing this tangled web of corruption spanning decades.

Follow the link to the story in Estonian and run it through Google translate - you'll get the gist of it. Estonian journalism students attended a summer school program at Uppsala Uni, and found themselves confronted with Kremlin disinfo. After a couple of days of pushing back against propagandists such as Vanessa Beeley and being repeatedly silenced by the program's sponsor Greg Simons, the students boycotted the final sessions.

I gather we’re in for a couple of days of “ZOMG Dems picked a SOCIALIST!!!” from hand-wringing pundits and Rs desperate for an excuse for choosing fascism (a choice they made 2 years prior to yesterday’s NY primary). Speaking as a former Republican, I’m quite willing to stand with socialists against fascism, and fascism is all the GOP has to offer anymore. Bernie himself annoys me, but he doesn’t scare me. The GOP, otoh, is an enemy both foreign & domestic.
