Btw the #WVTeachersStrike just voted to occupy the Capitol as long as it takes to get what they want.
The teachers aren't just doing something brave and hard and really hard to coordinate to do together in the face of so much fear and intimidation.
1) The teachers of West Virginia are not just fighting for themselves, our children or all public employees. In my view, teachers in West Virginia are joining a fight for the soul and spirit of West Virginia that started hundreds of years ago #55strong
2) Hundreds of years ago, investors came to West Virginia and purchased most of the land for all but nothing. Even today, you will be hard pressed to find many people in WV who own their mineral rights.
3) They wanted our salt, timber and coal. They came in, paid our people essentially nothing for it and then put in the railroad. West Virginia has always been a colony.
