I want to thank @CMBrandonTodd for speaking with me today. I always appreciate the time, and would encourage you to lead the effort to respect the voters with #Initiative77 rather than waiting to comment until there is a bill. Governing is often done before a bill is written.
In addition, if you truly believe that charter schools are public schools and you "don't see a difference," I urge you to make all LEA records FOIA'able and reverse the @dcpcsb and @SDPearson decision to hide hundreds of thousands of dollars of spending from public view
by raising the contract review threshold. In DC's case, we really are an outlier, but not in a good way. Please see this overview from the discussion led by @BobbyScott for more

For anyone needing more evidence the @SaveOurTips anti-minimum wage propaganda is built on a house of lies…

The lobby group behind the campaign to kill #Initiative77 is the same group that claimed a smoking ban would be the death of DC restaurants over a decade ago.

(THREAD.)
@saveourtips 1/ One of the main lobby groups trying to keep DC’s tipped workers from getting a raise under #Initiative77 is the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (@RAMWdc).

They’re the ones behind the astroturf @SaveOurTips campaign.
@saveourtips @RAMWdc 2/ @RAMWdc’s @SaveOurTips misinformation campaign is full wild, unsubstantiated claims, as I’ve noted before:

But their effort to kill #Initiative77 is hardly the first time they’ve lied to DC voters to try to sink a popular ballot measure.

The restaurant lobby is so hell-bent on paying tipped workers a poverty-level sub-minimum wage, they’re funding a front group pretending to be organized restaurant workers—all to block D.C.’s #Initiative77.

Meet @SaveOurTips.

(THREAD)
@saveourtips 1. In DC, tipped workers—aka anyone who makes even $30 in tips per month—are subject to a sub-minimum wage of $3.33 an hour. #Initiative77, which is on the ballot in DC through June 19th, would ensure they’re paid the same minimum wage as all other workers.
@saveourtips 2. In the months since #Initiative77 started to gain steam, signs screaming “Save Our Tips!” appeared in seemingly every bar and restaurant across DC. Diners drown in @SaveOurTips flyers making wild claims about how the ballot measure will supposedly hurt workers.
