But why did it happen, beyond FPTP?

The NDP was attacked from 3 sides: OLP, PCs and a media running bogus stories about candidates.

Carefully timed by the PCs *colluding* with TorSun:
a new story each day to dominate the agenda. Didn't matter if the story was true/relevant. *Dump it bc MSM will run it anyway.*

Didn't even matter if media and voters started questioning whether the smear was true. They had no time bc a splashy new phony story took its place in the AM, and damage was done.

In effect, Doug Ford was elected on a crude fraud. None of the stories were relevant, fair or true

But you wouldn't know that watching the NDP campaign. They were unprepared for the 'daily fake smear story and run' strategy.

They had time to think, and messed it up anyway. Instead of trusting their candidates and fighting, they were dazed. They even apologized.

Game over.

If only the NDP central campaign followed their candidates' lead, and produced a rapid response Beaverton/22 minutes style TV ad like this. And made a second ad with the same message.

This was the answer. It was staring them in the face.

And they missed it. 😭😭

While the NDP are responsible for a serious tactical error at the make or break moment bc they underestimated how vile their opponents were - the Liberals are guilty as sin.

They piggybacked on the fake unfair smears which were actually about demonizing minority social activism.

By this stage it was clear OLP had just one strategy: it was not stop Doug Ford and save Ontario. It was stop the NDP and save ourselves.

And they lied about it too, under the guise of a phony claim to voters they could elect a minority by voting for them.

I noticed on Facebook a small sprinkling of voters bought it and migrated back to OLP.

While Ford's campaign was an evil, incompetent train crash held together only by the Toronto Sun *who managed campaign tactics for them*, the Liberals were in some ways equally dishonourable

They knowingly aided a monster they could have helped stop. Even after a phony concession, *they kept running ads attacking the NDP with messages that resonated more with soft PC voters.*

OLP delivered some soft PC voters back to Doug Ford from the NDP and sealed a majority.

So, why did a dangerous man like Doug Ford happen?

Multiple layers of people who chose themselves over civic duty to Ontario, starting with the PCs.

The icing on the cake: a morally corrupt and duplicitous OLP who stole a life boat for itself and watched Ontario drown.

And a mainstream press too gullible and hungry for splash and false equivalence to see how the PCs duped them into running false stories for a week over nazis and a data breach.

But, all of us failed because we were too smug and confident we are better than America.

So smug, we didn't apply the lessons of their catastrophe to preventing our own.

Now, millions will pay the price. And likely, the most vulnerable and invisible first.

Shame on us.
