The ref may have been advisory but it was a legitimate democratic exercise, governed by electoral law.

The leave campaign broke all kinds of electoral laws.

If a GE was won after a corrupt campaign, for how long would the new govt last?

@BasedChara @MerryMichaelW @blueunicornmoon @MagpiesView Because the ref was advisory, more than 1m UK citizens living overseas were not allowed to vote despite the govt being in favour of votes for life.

Do those who want to respect the ref because DC said he would also wish the govt had respected this promise?

Or is it parliament voting to cede sovereignty on this issue that is most democratic?

@BasedChara @MerryMichaelW @blueunicornmoon @MagpiesView I think what really clinches it is that for some time now, people have been changing their minds. It's not huge, but it's bigger than the tiny majority from the ref. & I'd be inclined to think that democracy is not supporting a vote whose original voters have changed their minds.

@BasedChara @MerryMichaelW @blueunicornmoon @MagpiesView I think that when the job losses at Airbus, Jaguar Land Rover, Monarch, Maplins, House of Fraser, Poundworld, Carillion Toys R Us & all the others settle in, many more people may change their minds and won't want to be bound by their vote on a rainy day in 2016.
