(1/13) For all fans of #SaveTimeless, #SaveShadowhunters and other communities! We wrote up a list of ideas you guys can try to help with your efforts. Keep in mind these are by no means foolproof methods, just some suggestions that worked for us and could hopefully help you too!
(2/13) Organize into a dedicated group of volunteers who can help coordinate your community's voice and pool your resources together! This will help present your fanbase as a united front, and give interested parties a clear point of contact to collaborate with.
(3/13) Setup "official" social media accounts for everyone to follow and organize your campaign from. Every fanbase is decentralized by nature, but at a crucial time like this, having a "base of operations" can go a long way!
(4/13) Make use of modern robust chat applications such as Slack and Discord, as they are VERY helpful for this type of organization. Definitely look into setting one up for your group and utilize their channel features for different projects and parts of your movement.
(5/13) Find social media experts, graphic designers, web developers, and multimedia professionals within your community who are willing to contribute their time and skills to help promote the show. You can even go further and develop a style guide for all your promo materials!
(6/13) Produce and promote fan content - videos, art, graphics, memes - anything you can think of to show the world how passionate and creative your fanbase is!
(7/13) Organize and coordinate tweetstorms and social media hashtags for each campaign/initiative. Be sure to avoid using more than two tags at a time to not overload Twitter’s algorithm. A main tag and a secondary initiative-specific tag is always a safe bet.
(8/13) Find creative ways to promote your show and appeal to networks. Ex) for #Timeless, a fun project could be to create a time capsule with memorabilia and letters from fans, or coordinate mass visits to local history museums!
(9/13) Reach out to the creators and cast of the show. If they aren't participating already, they may be willing to help!
(10/13) Educate yourself on your show's distribution rights. Who owns it? Where do they have broadcast rights? Knowing your legal landscape will help you determine campaign targets more effectively.
(11/13) Be sure to not promote any initiatives that may cause public disturbance or encourage any sort of illegal activities/workarounds. Barraging IMDB/review websites or harassing popular content creators to promote your show may not be perceived well and could backfire.
(12/13) If you'd like to collaborate with someone, such as a popular content creator or influencer, find a way to get in touch with them from a single point of contact. The aforementioned volunteer collective would be perfect for something like this!
(13/13) Most importantly, keep fighting and don't give up! Plan your efforts in advance, coordinate your community’s power, and find ways to engage existing fans and attract new viewers. Good luck, and godspeed!
To the creative minds behind #TheExpanse - THANK YOU! Your words have touched millions of souls across the globe, and helped create one of the best shows on television. Thanks to you, we can finally rest easy knowing that those words will continue to flow.
(Ty Franck and @AbrahamHanover) created The Expanse, working closely with the show to ensure a faithful adaptation of their vision. We are so grateful for the diverse and complex characters, wide-reaching narrative themes, and an extremely detailed universe.
Without Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, The Expanse would not be the show we know and love, as they spearheaded the effort to bring Ty and Daniel's creation to the screen and continue to help shape the overall vision.
