At #Portland rally, Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer called for immigrants heads to be "smash[ed]...into the concrete," seen giving Nazi salutes and screaming racial slurs. They don't just want to fight 'the Left,' but attack broad segments of the population. itsgoingdown.org/in-portland-pa…
The June 30th rally was called for by Joey Gibson, who is running for Senate in Washington. His call for violence had an almost "Biblical" feel to it, + his hatred of #Portland was clear. "[T]he stench-covered and liberal-occupied streets of Portland will be CLEANSED. CLEANSED."
Gibson has long denied any association with the Alt-Right, neo-Nazis and white nationalists. Yet from the start, his rallies have been a 'broad church' of violent far-Right groups. Must notorious was Jeremy Christian, who went on to slaughter two people + nearly a third in 2017.
Joey would also go on to take photos with local Identity Evropa leader, Jake Von Ott. IE was one of the main groups behind organizing the 'Unite the Right' rally in Charlottesville. Gibson also brought out Baked Alaska to his rallies, who was a planned speaker at UtR.
Joey violent right hand, Tiny Toese, even went out of his way to call Jake Von Ott to thank him for coming out to Patriot Prayer events, according to an article in the PSU Vanguard.
Gibson also has a long history with the "Hell Shaking Street Preachers," seen at most PP rallies, and known for violent attacks on people they deem to be "sinners" and for openly use slurs at events such as PRIDE. Some members publicly embraced white nationalism.
After been chased out of Portland on June 3rd, and a pathetic showing at Planned Parenthood weeks later in Kent, WA, Joey knew that he had to reach out to the wider "Patriot," militia, Alt-Right, and especially Proud Boy networks to make June 30th a success.
Only weeks before the June 30th rally, Tiny and other Proud Boys violently beat and sent a man to the hospital in #Portland after the group prowled the streets, shouting pro-Trump slogans and looking for random people to assault.
With this attack, Proud Boys + Patriot Prayer moved from being simply a protest movement that was willing to use violence, to a group of people that actively are seeking to engage in random violence against members of the public that it deems to be a political opponent of Trump.
After the violent clashes in #Portland on June 30th, Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer celebrated the violence and called for physical murder and more assaults of anyone that opposed them.
At the rally, we can see the red shirt participant throwing up Nazi salutes while screaming the n-word. Close to him are Amber Cummings, a "Stickman" gopher, Proud Boy Rob "Burn Down Your Bookstore" Cantrall, and Christopher Richie, who attended the neo-Nazi Unite the Right.
Despite the violence aimed at broad sections of the community, according to #Portland police officers, since the Jeremy Christian murders, they have deemed Patriot Prayer and friends to be "mainstream."
During the lead up to, and during June 30th, Gibson and Patriot Prayer also worked closely with the DHS in order to play and execute the rally. During the rally, police and DHS gave cover to the far-Right.
Despite ample footage of known Proud Boys seen engaging in deadly assaults, police made no attempt to make arrests, yet paid hospital visits to injured antifascists in order to charge them. The message is clear: far-Right violence gets a green light from the State.
It seems to these “Patriots,” freedom and liberty were fine to tread on, as long as they were the ones that were doing it to others.
This type of relationship between law enforcement and the far-Right follows a dangerous pattern we have seen play out in other cities, where police look upon the far-Right as a group of victims, and anyone that stands up to them as instead a group of criminals and terrorists.
For cops, this has nothing to do with keeping “the public safe,” and everything to do with police + far-Right working together against a common enemy: social movements seeking change. Moreover, the solution to this will be found in community self-defense, not through the State.
At a time of growing repression, this State/far-Right crossover should be met with the seriousness it deserves. The State is extending its franchise on a monopoly of violence to segments of the far-Right that openly promote Alt-Right, neo-Nazi, and white nationalist politics.
For those that would rather antifascists stay home, the question to must be asked: who will stand with the undocumented when the Nazi saluting Proud Boys make good on their word to “bash their heads into the concrete?” Who stands for journalists already getting home visits?
If you want to ensure that Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer never become large enough to take their rhetoric of mass violence + murder off and outside the internet + insular rallies, then the easiest thing you can do is organize to show up in mass numbers and shut these people down.
Also, here is the link to the footage of the man in the red shirt throwing up Nazi salutes and yelling the n-word.
In light of the arrests of several members of the Rise Above Movement (RAM) in relation to the events at Unite the Right in Charlottesville, few points need to be made, as we watch the State go after a small Alt-Right group over a year after the events in Cville.
First and foremost, the strategy and tactics used by police on A12 was informed by 'intelligence' gathered through DHS and Fusion Centers, that was clear: antifascists are the biggest threat to public safety and civil order. shadowproof.com/2018/03/07/doc…
Documents released from West Coast Fusion Centers, which in theory would have monitored the actions of RAM members, especially at Berkeley events, had the same conclusion, even directly stating that "ANTIFA" was "greatest threat to public safety." itsgoingdown.org/manufacturing-…
So much has happened over the last two weeks, it can be hard to process the collection of emotions: pain, sorrow, rage, + joy. But as we look back one year after #Charlottesville, there is still a large hole in our discussions of these events, primarily: the role of the police.
Over the coming days, many of us will be asked a similar question by loved one, friends, + co-workers: "Why do the police protect the Nazis?" "Why did they attack one side in Portland, + not the other?" While it is easy to resort to bumper sticker answers, the truth is complex.
The recent piece from @ACInvestigates + @ProPublica begins to scratch the surface. In their recent doc, they talk with an ex-FBI agent who rightfully concludes that coddling by law enforcement acts as a green light for the far-Right to engage in violence in a variety of settings.
The only thing that stopped #Portland from being next #Charlottesville was several centimetres of helmet. Police sent two people to the hospital for head injuries in attacks justified by claims of non-existent "thrown projectiles" in order to protect the heavily armed far-Right.
This was carried by police who for months have used the same tactic - shoot one side to allow the other to escape. In this case, Proud Boys, who for months have attacked citizens walking on the street, were allowed to march and attack more people.
The Portland police are also on record saying that Patriot Prayer is "more mainstream" (guess Kek flags, people who attended Unite the Right, and shirts celebrating mass murderers are mainstream now) despite the ongoing links between far-Right violence and out right killers.
After the death of Heather Heyer in Charlottesville, the far-Right was in a state of disarray. Predictably, many attempted to use conspiracy theories and fabricated lies to explain what had happened as a "setup" to "silence conservatives," or instead, as a "Soros" false-flag.
Leading the pack was Alex Jones + like with Sandy Hook claimed that Charlottesville was false flag. He stated: "I thought Trump’s response was great…we know that Soros has been planning this..and like trying to create provocative events...the whole thing looks staged to me…”
