A what-if scenario:
Court opens #Sabarimala to women capable of child bearing. Activists will engineer a 'violent act where enraged devotees attack a woman'.
I fear that this is where we'll end up. Beefed up security, all sorts of impositions on devotees, even a closure.
The larger ramifications for worshipping a Tantric deity is just unthinkable.
It will be a sad day for Hinduism if the verdict ends in opening up of the temple against the Agamic rules.
They churn out so much knowledge that even a Dummkopf like me picks up titbits.
But then, I have my advantages. I simply pack a bag and go... 😋
Some time ago, GA had posted an image of a लकुलीश vigraha from a rock cut temple near AritApaTTi, a village underneath the hills, some distance outside Madurai.
So I went. To see. To seek. To pray.
Following Google's instructions, I went past a spectacularly picturesque countryside and down the road for about 4.5 km only to reach this hillock with a small lake.
To the left of the lake was a tiny Hamlet and the kind people guided me to cross over to a surreal experience.
Vadachennimalai Murugan temple. Subramanya appears in 3 forms - as a smiling child in the sanctum, as a grihasta with VaLLi & Deivanai and as an ascetic danDAyuthapANi. All three forms are swayambhu, as the legend goes.
Flyover visit! 😄
A couple of km away, Darth Vader looms.
Almost as if he's on his way to grab the rich fertile lands on the other side of the road.
