@ELCouncil this is a completely inappropriate response. The protected characteristic as stated in the EA2010 is 'sex' & it is not used interchangeably within the Act. ELC are failing in their Public Sector Duty by wrongly applying its own interpretation of the law. #sexmatters
"one area that’s extremely concerning – a few girls and young women aged 13 to 21 now feel it is acceptable for their partner to behave in abusive ways"
Includes abuse like being pressured into have sex or being hit, kicked or punched for talking to someone else at a party 😲
"This year’s results suggest girls in general are socialising less."
"Increasing numbers of girls have experienced unkind, threatening and negative behaviour online compared to five years ago. With more channels to abuse, sadly we weren’t surprised by these figures"
Doesn't wanting to raise the age of criminal responsibility for children to 16-18yrs contradict your opinion that children as young as 12yrs should be able to apply for & obtain legal recognition of their acquired gender? At what age do children have capacity?
Is it at 12 or 18?
As you are the Children & Young Persons Commissioner @Bruce_Adamson@CYPCS Could you explain what appears to be a contradictory view of what age children are fully capable of understanding the implications of their behaviour and the choices they make?
@CYPCS submission for #ACRBill acknowledges that children's understanding and decision making is variable, esp in those who have been through a trauma. Yet, the Commissioner believes that a 12yo could have the capacity to legally change their gender.
UNISON called for the removal of sex-based exemptions at W&E Committee. Also, UNISON guidance was written by the manager of a Trans lobby group scottish-women.com/2018/09/13/who…
"Scottish Trans Alliance did not respond to a request for comment last night. However the org has previously defended the SPS policy" I'm not surprised they have defended it previously considering the policy was written by their manager James Morton.
When you click on the policy to open it up in iBooks the Author is listed as James Morton.
This is the guidance here. As with other polices nowadays such as Education and NHS it completely disregards the impact this would have on women. Why are policies being written with NO consultation with women's groups? sps.gov.uk/nmsruntime/sav…
395 sexual assaults in UK prisons in 2017. I found that only 5% (21) occurred in women's prisons. We know from recent headlines that 4 of those was by TW Karen White.
ONE trans prisoner is responsible for 20% of ALL the sex assaults that occurred in women's prisons in 2017!!
The number of sexual assaults occurring in women's prisons in recent years has more than doubled. Could it be anything to do with the decision to house transwomen there? It's plausible considering the recent headlines.
"Staff AND inmates are fearful after 5 transgender cons were placed in all-women's jail"
Staff AND inmates ...... it's almost like they have some greater understanding of the criminal behaviour of males.
Maybe the committee who made these decisions should have listened to them.
THREAD. Council states that the introduction of Gender Neutral toilets within its schools is 'in line with guidance from the Scottish Govt'.
Which guidance would this be?
The Regulations surrounding school toilets hasn't changed, so where does this guidance come from?
Having realised that the Regulations hadn't changed I thought that Parents should write to the Councils,
But as it turned out a simple tweet to the Council provided the answer I was seeking. Clicking on the link took me to the controversial LGBTYS Transgender School Guidance.
