New @GirlguidingScot survey out. Safety & Socialing concerns are high.
"The percentage of girls and young women feeling unsafe outside is alarmingly high." girlguiding.org.uk/globalassets/d… "one area that’s extremely concerning – a few girls and young women aged 13 to 21 now feel it is acceptable for their partner to behave in abusive ways"
Includes abuse like being pressured into have sex or being hit, kicked or punched for talking to someone else at a party 😲

Doesn't wanting to raise the age of criminal responsibility for children to 16-18yrs contradict your opinion that children as young as 12yrs should be able to apply for & obtain legal recognition of their acquired gender? At what age do children have capacity?
Is it at 12 or 18? As you are the Children & Young Persons Commissioner @Bruce_Adamson @CYPCS Could you explain what appears to be a contradictory view of what age children are fully capable of understanding the implications of their behaviour and the choices they make?

UNISON called for the removal of sex-based exemptions at W&E Committee. Also, UNISON guidance was written by the manager of a Trans lobby group scottish-women.com/2018/09/13/who… UNISON Guidance on Gender Identity unison.org.uk/content/upload…

"Scottish Trans Alliance did not respond to a request for comment last night. However the org has previously defended the SPS policy" I'm not surprised they have defended it previously considering the policy was written by their manager James Morton. When you click on the policy to open it up in iBooks the Author is listed as James Morton.

395 sexual assaults in UK prisons in 2017. I found that only 5% (21) occurred in women's prisons. We know from recent headlines that 4 of those was by TW Karen White.
ONE trans prisoner is responsible for 20% of ALL the sex assaults that occurred in women's prisons in 2017!! The number of sexual assaults occurring in women's prisons in recent years has more than doubled. Could it be anything to do with the decision to house transwomen there? It's plausible considering the recent headlines.

THREAD. Council states that the introduction of Gender Neutral toilets within its schools is 'in line with guidance from the Scottish Govt'.
Which guidance would this be?
The Regulations surrounding school toilets hasn't changed, so where does this guidance come from? Having realised that the Regulations hadn't changed I thought that Parents should write to the Councils,

This is an excellent scheme but is tainted by the fact that no one in the partnership, Scot Govt, COSLA or either Execs of Colleges and Universities can say the words 'girl' or 'woman' anymore. news.gov.scot/news/students-… The group who provide the products know who it's aimed at. Yet even their media release fails to mention 'girls'.

How can you put this comment on a thread about two little girls who were sexually attacked in a public toilet? Honestly, do you have no compassion, would you tell those girls & their parents the inclusion all those who ID as TW into women's spaces won't stop them from being safe? "forcing any woman to use men's spaces puts them in danger"

Why would women using men's spaces be dangerous?

Is it because some males are violent/sexual offenders?

We already know this and that's why we have separate sex spaces.

To protect vulnerable women and girls.

Scottish Government have done a U-turn and no longer endorse this controversial transgender school guidance. This guidance has been distributed across all Local Authorities, many of which presumably adopted it on the understanding it had full Government backing. The statement came as a result of threatened legal action over the guidance. The govt deny ever having endorsed it, saying it was an error of LGBT Scotland. The document has since been updated with the Govts logo removed.

Guidelines for all schools in Scotland are due to be rolled out next year include informing 5 year olds they can choose their gender. This is a thread with some extracts from the draft. "Your gender is what you decide. You might be a boy or a girl".
This is aimed at Level 1, recommended to be suitable for P2 onwards or perhaps sooner in some cases. Primary 2 children are 5 & 6 year olds.

@DundeeCouncil are introducing Free Sanitary products within their schools for 'those who menstruate'. The words 'girl', 'woman' or 'female' do not feature once in the report. Transgender men and NB do though. @grogipher is the chair of the committee that approved it 1/ An equalities spokesperson who calls women 'c*nts' and 'roasters', uses language like 'feminist shite' and thinks 50/50 Representation is p***. A councillor who approves a report about period poverty in schools and somehow erases all traces of girls and young women from it. #WoW

Councillor calls lesbians defending their right to same-sex attraction 'utter c*nts' #GetTheLOut The thin veil of misogynistic abuse slips off. The circle is now complete. All those people who claim 'TERF' is just a descriptor and not a slur. We see you. We ALL see your hatred of women.
'Women/lesbian = TERF = C*nts'

Government funded school guidance has been issued across Scotland, endorsed by Children's Commissioner, charities, LA's etc which discards the need for single sex spaces/sports No Equality Impact Assessments were carried out, neither by the organisations who compiled the guidance nor the Local Authorities who have distributed it amongst their schools.

This is the response from Engender Scotland which was published only after the consultation closed. Note the last sentence. All throughout the consultation period, anytime concerns were raised about women's rights, the stock answer was that all the women's organisations were on board with the reforms, thereby dismissing what we were saying engender.org.uk/news/blog/stat…

The Scottish Govts newly passed gender bill, the Gender Representation on Public Boards (Scot) Bill, has redefined the language used in the GRA. A person is no longer reassigned a gender. This legislation now defines it as 'becoming female'. The GRA doesn't actually believe that a man can become female. It's purpose was to give a transsexual person legal recognition
