Hi again @stonewalluk
I wholeheartedly agree that there is no place for homophobia in sport. I welcome your attempts to make (esp male) sports more inclusive of gay and bi people. 🖒
But... I played women's rugby for over 10 years. Is it fair to include male bodies?

Is it fair to allow self ID male bodies into sporting competitions?
Such as Andraya Yearwood?

Or Fallon Fox, whose opponent was left with broken bones and requiring 7 staples in her head.

@ELCouncil this is a completely inappropriate response. The protected characteristic as stated in the EA2010 is 'sex' & it is not used interchangeably within the Act. ELC are failing in their Public Sector Duty by wrongly applying its own interpretation of the law. #sexmatters
@Womans_Place_UK have you seen this awful response this council sent to one of its residents #sexmatters
@EngenderScot have you seen this response from @ELCouncil. It's a lawful requirement that Public Bodies keep accurate data on 'sex'.

It seems lots of organisations have got all muddled about equality law. They need reminding that 'sex' is a protected characteristic. We have already helped lots of councils and others to get their guidance right. Let's make sure everyone is compliant. womansplaceuk.org/sex-is-a-prote…

Here is my thread on sex and gender, and why public authorities are legally misguided to use gender instead of sex and/or to conflate the two terms.

#SexMatters
1. Section 11(a) of the Equality Act 2010 provides that a reference to a person who has the protected characteristic of sex is a reference to a "man" or a "woman".

You may think that man/woman sounds like it means gender, in the current societal sense?
2. But it does not, at least not in terms of the Equality Act 2010.

A "man" means a male of any age, and a "woman" means a female of any age — see section 212(1).

Male/female are sex-based biological, categories, are they not? (notwithstanding intersex conditions).
