Men have been accusing us of hysteria for hundreds of years for deigning to speak up for our rights. I have spent much of my adult life arguing against the hysterical label, explaining how sexist it is. At this point fuck it. Damn straight I'm hysterical #StopKanavaugh /1
I'm hysterical because this accusation has always been used to control women. We were burned at the stake for being witches, put in sanatoriums, had forced hysterectomies & oophorectomies, were sterilized, & we're too emotional to decide if we want an abortion #SaveRoe /2
I'm hysterical because our pleas were dismissed and ignored for the past 3 years. We were deemed dramatic, silly, and too focused on "women's issues" because we begged people to listen to our rational fears that Roe could be overturned #StopKavanaugh #WhatsAtStake /3
I'm hysterical because making abortion illegal only makes abortion less safe. One analysis, concluded that an estimated 829,000 illegal or self-induced abortions occurred in 1967. By 1965 illegal abortion accounted for 17% of all pregnancy & childbirth related deaths that year /4
I'm hysterical because abortion isn't the only reproductive right in danger. Birth control, plan b, maternal mortality protections, and more are all in danger. 98% of women have used birth control and 11% of women reported using plan B in 2013 (that # is surely higher now) /5
I'm hysterical because men often think that Roe technically being legal protects abortion. They ignore issues of access, waiting periods, consent bills, insurance coverage. Abortion could technically be legal at the federal level w/o poor women having any access to it at all /6
I'm hysterical because many want to limit abortion w/o making pregnancy & labor safer, funding prenatal care, funding childcare. Abortion is safer and cheaper than pregnancy and motherhood #StopKanavaugh #SaveRoe #WhatsAtStake /7
I'm hysterical because women's issues are reduced to abortion. DV resources, rape kit testing, gun reform, economic equity, and voting rights are all in danger right now. But we're being dismissed as being "dramatic" and "hysterical" for deigning to raise our voices #WhatsAtStake
So you're fucking right I'm hysterical. I'm done calmly explaining why my survival & personhood are important and valuable. Get used to hearing me yell. Call your senators & tell them just how hysterically we'll vote them out if they don't stop this confirmation #StopKavanaugh

I usually don’t want live hearings and instead read the synopsis later. I have an anxiety disorder and I’ve found this helps manage it. But last week I stayed home and watched every second of Dr Ford and Kavanaugh. I still haven’t recovered #StopKavanaugh #BelieveSurvivors /1
I wanted to bear witness to Dr Ford’s story. Part of me believed that all the women watching could collectively send support her way. Dr Ford was brave and patriotic and I’m deeply grateful she opened her trauma to try and save us #BelieveSurvivors #StopKavanaugh /2
I watched the gaslighting of the fake politeness of the prosecutor and GOP senators claiming they believed Dr Ford and thanking her for her testimony. But it was Kavanaugh’s testimony that I can’t shake #StopKavanaugh #BelieveSurvivors /3

Based on my mentions it seems we might need a lesson on intimate partner violence. Intimate partner violence impacts all relationships of all sexual orientations and colors. /1
1/4 women has experienced intimate partner violence in her life while 1/7 men has. 85% of DV victims are women. 1/3 of all women murdered in the US are killed by a IPV (a gun in the home increases the risk 5x). Trans people are 2.6x more likely to be victims of IPV /2
Women are 70x more likely to be killed in the weeks immediately after leaving her abusive partner than at any other time in the relationship. 3 women are murdered everyday by an abusive male partner in the US. IPV is the leading cause of female homicide during pregnancy of /3

Let's have a conversation about #healthcare that's larger than who pays for it shall we? For this thread I'm going to assume we can pass #MedicareForAll and insurance is no longer an issue. Now let's talk about what problems would still exist for women's healthcare /1
In this scenario #Medicare4All has been passed with the repeal of #Hyde so we don't have a problem funding abortions for anyone! But wait...does that overturn #TRAP laws? Waiting periods? Personhood bills? Heartbeat bills? 20 week bans? Specifically fund Planned Parenthood /2
Unfortunately #MedicareForAll wouldn't overturn all those pesky anti abortion laws meaning abortion would be insured if (and that's a big if) you have access to it. The reason you need Planned Parenthood still is because not all doctors choose to perform abortion /3

On #HolocaustMemorialDay remember the 11 million people killed by the Nazis in camps due to hatred and bigotry. 6 million Jews were murdered as well as 5 million disabled people, political dissidents, and LGBT people. Let's also remember how this bigotry started & the US role /1
The US ignored many warning signs of anti-Semitism and Fascism in Germany and refused help to Jewish refugees. Many in the US, Europe, and even Germany justified Hitler's rise w/ economic worries and ignored the anti-Semitism and fascism #HolocaustMemorialDay /2
Hitler and the Nazi party capitalized on anti-Semitism as a scapegoat for the interwar economic depression. Their answer was extreme nationalism and bigotry, and fascism #HolocaustMemorialDay /3
