My parents live in #EastTexas, in a district represented by one of the most conservative members of #Congress. However, my mom is one of the most liberal I know.
A few months ago, my dad had to take his truck into the shop. While it was there, one of the workers scratched D-E-M-O-C off the sticker so it read "I vote for rats." Understandably, my mom (who is 71 & under 5 ft, but raised 6 daughters & terrifying when need be) was angry.
Eventually, the shop owner arranged for the worker to apologize to my parents (he said it was a joke...). Then the shop owner offered my dad $ for the damage. Being a proud man, my dad said he didn't want their payoff.
When my mom went to drop off the check, the people working at the @texasdemocrats office were amazed & grateful. They don't get a lot of big checks in #Tyler#Texas. They asked what they could do to thank my mom - she said she needed a new bumper sticker.
This is my mom, Eileen D'Avignon. She got @BetoORourke signs for all of her friends. She pronounces it Bee-to. She is also legally blind & has endured a lot over the years. She cares about healthcare, protection for #dreamers & equal rights for #women. She's voting #BetoForTexas.
