1/ What does no-deal Brexit mean for EU citizens in the UK & @BritishInEurope?

@ecas_europe in collaboration with @EuropeStreet have put together a comprehensive summary of which #citizensrights will be affected in case of both orderly & no deal Brexit
europestreet.news/deal-or-no-dea…
2/ UK Govt promised no-deal notes on #citizensrights but none materialised. We now know how to market fertiliser but not what will happen to EU citizens in the UK & @BritishInEurope. Anthony Valcke from @ecas_europe & @Claudiacomms fill some of these information gaps
3/ the reciprocal #citizensrights of EU citizens in the UK & @BritishInEurope are complex and go way beyond just the right to stay and work as it often portrayed by senior UK Govt officials. It is not as easy as simply 'not turfing out' citizens.
4/ Many of the #citizensrights of EU citizens in the UK & @BritishInEurope are depending on agreement between the EU & UK. A no-deal Brexit would reduce, remove or alter those rights. From state pensions, recognition of professional qualifications to healthcare.
5/ Unilateral #citizensrights guarantees for EU citizens in the UK & @BritishInEurope, as proposed by senior UK ministers, will NOT protect those coordinated rights. As the comparison shows the Withdrawal Agreement is not ideal with many rights lost or reduced...
6/...but a no-deal Brexit, with no Withdrawal Agreement, will have major implications for EU citizens in the UK & @BritishInEurope. From potentially losing state pension years to recognition of qualifications. 28 unilateral guarantees from 28 EU countries is not the answer.
7/ this is why we are calling on @10DowningStreet & @EU_Commission to do the only sensible thing: sit down and separate - ring-fence - the #citizensrights part of the Withdrawal Agreement and agree this no matter whether there will be a deal on Brexit or a no-deal Brexit.
8/ both @10DowningStreet & @EU_Commission declared #citizensrights of EU citizens in the UK & @BritishInEurope their number 1 priority. It is now high time for both to commit to this declaration and to stop fudging the issue.
9/ if you are at the @Conservatives party conference in Birmingham next week join us at our fringe event: 'Brexit: the last mile on EU & UK #citizensrights' on Monday, Oct 1st to find out more.

1/ On @IainDale at @LBC Iain Duncan Smith again called for benefits to be restricted or cut for future EU citizens arriving and working in the UK. Giving the impression that EU citizens in general are a drain on the system. Apart from the MAC report disproving this...
2/... Iain Duncan Smith's £4bn (sounds big) benefit claim needs to be seen in relation. His number is correct, here his sources from his own report
3/... but what he misses is putting this number in relation to the overall benefits spend of the UK which stands at £153bn excluding pensions for the year 2017

1/ on @BBCr4today Theresa May confirmed that Freedom of Movement will end on March 30th next year in case of a no deal Brexit. No transition, no implementation period. Plunging 3.6m EU citizens, despite continuing to live legally in the UK, directly into the #HostileEnvironment
3/ last week the Prime Minister promised to protect the #citizensrights of EU citizens no matter what Brexit outcome. Within the #HostileEnvironment this is becoming meaningless though.
4/ without a transition period for Freedom of Movement there will suddenly be 3.6m legal EU citizens - with their #citizensrights protected - unable prove to landlords, banks, the NHS and employers that they have the right to reside and work in the UK

1/ Let's see how many of the 3.6m EU citizens in the UK are going to get 'caught up in it [the #HostileEnvironment]' @10DowningStreet?
2/Private landlords already uncertain about extending rental agreements for EU citizens post March 2019 @@RLA_PEARL research shows
news.rla.org.uk/brexit-uncerta…
3/ Employers are already uncertain about hiring EU citizens - this will only worsen during the transition period when many EU citizens will not yet hold Settled Status. And it will be absolute chaos under no-deal Brexit

We need your support
September is almost over and our team has been extremely busy this month fighting for the #citizensrights of the 3.6m EU citizens in the UK.
But we do need your continued support to keep us going. You can help us here

September 1st marked #800DaysInLimbo for the 3.6m EU citizens in the UK & 1.2m @BritishInEurope.
And we started the month by writing a letter to @MichelBarnier & @DominicRaab - telling them that #EnoughIsEnough - asking them to finally commit to #citizensrights by ring fencing the already agreed rights no matter what Brexit outcome

@WalthamstowAcad care to comment please. This is unacceptable and all of the claims on here have been disproven by the recent MAC report. This is pure indoctrination of young minds with false stereotypes of immigration and specifically the Polish.
@stellacreasy
There are about 8k Polish citizens living in Waltham Forest Council. Many of their children will attend @WalthamstowAcad. Have you considered the impact of this poorly drafted error riddled homework on these children & how they might be perceived among their peers in the cohort?
If you'd rather teach your pupils the facts about immigration than further spreading false divisive stereotypes we'd recommend reading our summary of the MAC report on EU immigration
