There are lot of considerations when evaluating the amendments on Florida's ballot this year. The League of Women Voters did some research and these are their recommendations.

Amendment 1 ❎

Oppose. The League has a position that “no tax sources or revenue should be specified, limited, exempted, or prohibited in the Constitution.”

Amendment 2 ❎
The league opposes 2 for the same reason as 1.

Amendment 3 ✔️

Support. It restricts casino gambling & allows Florida voters to make any decisions regarding increases of casino gambling, consistent with League position against gambling. This amendment is also supported by No Casinos, Inc. and Disney.

Amendment 4 ✔️
Support. The League was a sponsor of this initiative. FL is 1 of 4 states that bars felons from voting after their sentences are completed. This voting restriction is from FL’s post-Civil War Constitution. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance.

Amendment 5 ❎

Oppose. This amendment does not include a provision that would allow for tax increases during emergencies (hurricane, floods, recession, etc.) & is an abrogation of the Legislature’s fiduciary responsibility to pass a reasonable budget.

Opposed. Victims' rights are already protected under the Constitution, and this amendment would eliminate an existing provision that victims' rights do not interfere with the constitutional rights of the accused.

Amendment 7 ❎

Opposed. We oppose a supermajority to increase fees or taxes. Family members of the military who die in the line of service are already compensated through the federal government.

The Supreme Court has removed amendment 8.
Amendment 9 ✔️

Support. Our concern for the environment overrides our concern for putting vaping in the Constitution. If this amendment doesn't pass, it sends a signal to the federal government that #Florida doesn't care about off shore drilling.

Opposed. This amendment limits the voters in local communities and is an effort to limit the power of local government.

This amendment expands the waiting time for elected officials to be able to lobby from 2 years to 6.

The league takes no position.

Personally, I will vote Yes.
I would like to see elected officials limited from lobbying.💰

I find this very odd that the anti-muslim #GOP would want to put even more money into charter schools. But despite their rampant xenophobia, they seem to love mother #Russia
So I guess they are ok with Gulen charter schools in #Florida

A few years ago, I taught in a different school where I had many kids from El Salvador. One student in particular was quite troubled. I mean. He was a real pain in the butt. But I never sent him out of class because I'm not that kind of teacher.

I just wrote a letter to my congressmen using Democracy.io
It's interesting that the Democrat had the choice of using #GunControl for a topic.
For the two Republicans who pretend to represent me, I had to use #education as #GunReform wasn't an option.

Even Justice Scalia agreed that the 2nd Amendment does not extend to military weapons in the hands of civilians. More guns in schools just means more shootings and more deaths.
