AG told the Supreme Court that they did a proof of the concept study before launching #Aadhaar project in rural India. This is outright lie.
#Aadhaar was launched in Tmbhli village in Maharashtra in 2009 by issuing first Aadhaar letter to Ranjana Sonawane, a poor tribal woman. That is the project started in rural India

The Proof of The Concept Report came out in 2010 only. A year after the project started. AG loed in the court. (3/10)
AG also told the court that all alternatives were considered before adopting #Aadhaar . That is also a lie. There was not even a Detailed Project Report when #Aadhaar was inaugurated.
A Cost Benefit Analysis was done only after the Parliamentary Standing Committee censured the govt. It was done in 2011. Two full years after project inauguration.
The Cost Benefit Analysis has no reference to Alternatives. No alternatives were considered, when there were many.
AG repeated lies about #Aadhaar savings when the CAG report and govt documents itself shows the figures are exaggerated. On ground there are little savings.
AG tried to tell that in the US fingerprint collection is not considered as intrusive and is used widely for criminal background checking. But did not tell the court that law requires them to delete the data after verification. (8/10)
AG tried to generalise narrowly tailored provisions to collect biometrics of criminals in various countries to justify #Aadhaar . That means he considers as all criminals.
AG told the court that SSN is similar to #Aadhaar and does similar data collection. It is not true.
TEN LIES for the time being. More will be added.

AG tells the supreme court that #Aadhaar was voluntary. But by linking UID to NPR (which is mandatory. There is a fine for not getting a national ID under NPR), #Aadhaar was de facto mandatory atleast from 2010.
AG say that #Aadhaar should not be annulled for it is essential for right to food, employment, medical carel) and all. These rights cannot b compromised for privacy!!!. In reality #Aadhaar is an assault on all these rights.
AG told the court that there are no exclusions and denial of services due to #Aadhaar . Another lie. There are lakhs of excluded People.
There are many who are denied rations, pension, medical care, wages, loans, loan waivers etc.
There is death and misery. But AG is denial mode.
AG said that the Word Bank Report said there is $11 billion savings by #Aadhaar integration. However the actual reference talks about the total amount of subsidy transferred.
AG claims that there are no data breaches. He is Lying again. Complete #Aadhaar data is out in market for meagre prices. Websites, Mob Apps, Enrolment centres are all leaking...
AG said that #Aadhaar has Parliamentary approval. Caught lying again. The project was rejected by Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance in 2011.
It never came back to Rajyasabha for consideration. Modi govt pushed it through as Money Bill, circumventing the upper house.
AG told the court at first that #Aadhaar Bill is money bill. Then he said it is for meeting Millenium Development Goals. It is evidently contradictory. Lies galore..
AG was lying again when he said that #Aadhaar collects only minimal information. He preffered not to talk about KYR+ forms and data collected through them.
AG told the court that CIDR is secure and there is no convergence of data. Lying again as State Resident Data Hubs are meant fkr 360° profiling
AG told the court that Section 29a & b serves the purpose limitation. Lie again. It limits only sharing of biometrics. Vide section 57 The Act opens it up for anything and evrything.

There is nothing surprising. The very same method of finger print faking was demonstrated ere the Parliamentary Standing Committee that studied #Aadhar in 2011. @UIDAI knew this is possible. Biometrics is the least secure password of all (1/n)
Nobody with minimum understanding of / concern about security or privacy would plan a project like this.
and all those in power who decided to implement such a dangerous project like #Aadhaar , without any study or cost benfit analysis should be held accountable.

If we take into account the amount we spen don AADHAAR and the amount various irganisations are still spending and the charges for each and evey verification process at retail stage, the profit will be negative. (7/n)
Having seen that #Aadhaar is not feasible technologically or economically. We will move to Rights. I have another thread explaining how Aadhaar violates Universal Declaration of Human Rights here
Since, #Aadhaar involves mandatory collection of biometric and demographic data, and its centralised storage, it essentially involves the question of #Privacy . Especially in country where there are no Data protection frameworks.
