It started sometime in 2011, when I knew nothing, enrolled along with family.But our enrollment packets were lost, EID wasnt even searchable. I did write some emails to support, but yielded nothing more than, please enroll again. As the need wasn't real, did not enroll.
Parents gave up at a later date, enrolled, got UID successfully generated. I resisted, mostly because of laziness, but did not have developed trust enough to enroll. On random browsing sessions, have heard Usha Ramanathan on YouTube, but never took deep dive into issues.
#DestroyTheAadhaar is the primary prayer of the Petitioners. That case has now been made before the final adjudicating body in the country. The fate of the only such project in any democracy that sought to fingerprint its entire population, hangs in the balance.

There is nothing surprising. The very same method of finger print faking was demonstrated ere the Parliamentary Standing Committee that studied #Aadhar in 2011. @UIDAI knew this is possible. Biometrics is the least secure password of all (1/n)

One important thing about Aadhaar or any centralized system,particularly connected to money, which I have not said so far, is how it completely destroys any security by obscurity which we have enjoyed so far. Take the example of mobile OTP.
Aadhaar uses SMS One Time Password (OTP) to secure Aadhaar transactions. But we have seen how process to update mobile for Aadhaar itself is hopeless destroy-the-aadhaar.blogspot.in/2017/12/regist…
It is hopeless in terms of security as well as frustrations experienced by the user. Some of the security risks can be fixed if UIDAI is more transparent about the process, as we have seen in that article. Some frustrations also may reduced if Aadhaar centres more nearby. But...
