I've just submitted a complaint to the Independent Press Standards Organisation against a certain few 'newspapers' for 25 years of lies and misinformation regarding the European Union.
IPSO Response "In order to proceed with your complaint, we will need you to provide copies of any articles that you would like to complain about, and an explanation in your own words of how you consider these articles to be inaccurate." #StopFundingHate#ExitFromBrexit
Response from IPSO "We look forward to receiving this information, in the next seven days."
It's a tall order for me to respond to every anti-EU lie that's ever been published but maybe if all you wonderful anti-EU types out there could share the EU Myths blog below.
Then select an blog post on the site with a reference to a specific newspaper article. Use the information to fill out a specific complaint to IPSO using the form linked below and utilising the EU explanation as reasons why the article is inaccurate. ipso.co.uk/make-a-complai…
Some blogs contain links to online articles which are still active and continuing the lies.
The Sun runs an article on 31 August by Bill Cash MP claiming the EU has banned the use of pounds and ounces. It repeats inaccuracies and misleading statements which seem to be widely believed and therefore are worth correcting yet again.
My response to IPSO. I didn’t have time in the 7 days to include all of the hundreds of inaccurate stories on the EuroMyths blog so I selected a few more recent ones.
The predictable response from IPSO is below, so no further action will be taken. It is therefore important that any inaccurate, anti-EU newspaper article needs to be challenged immediately and a complaint sent to IPSO.
IPSO seems to be unable to deal with historical articles. This will be an ongoing problem with articles staying published online many years after initial publication. The lies continue to be shared widely on social media. #StopFundingHate#ExitFromBrexit#StopBrexitSaveBritain
My email to IPSO in response to their decision not to take any action regarding my complaint of inaccurate and misleading articles from certain UK newspapers. #StopFundingHate#ExitFromBrexit#EuroMyths
