One of the most important offices in any state is that of Secretary of State, especially in swing states like Ohio where SOS’s have turned off voting machine audit functions, fought to keep machines paperless, & purged voter rolls. Pls support @KathleenClyde for Ohio SOS! 1/
2/ Ohio’s current SOS, Republican John Husted , went out of his way to make sure voting machine audit functions were turned OFF in 2016!
3/ In 2004, Republican SOS Ken Blackwell tried to have Ohio buy paperless voting machines!
4/ As Ohio Secretary of State, Republican Ken Blackwell purged thousands of eligible voters from the voter rolls!
5/ Republican John Husted, Ohio’s current SOS, has purged thousands of eligible voters from the voter rolls as well.
6/ Republicans Ken Blackwell’s election shenanigans during the 2004 election were so suspect that his administration shredded the evidence before he left office!
7/ Whereas Democrat @Kathleenclyde wants #paperballots (I wish she’d specify #handmarked), her GOP opponent in the Ohio race for Secretary of States wants the state to double down on touchscreens voting machines!!!
8/ Democrat @kathleenclyde is a voting rights champion who has earned the support of @jasonkander and @letamericavote!
9/ Ohio’s race 4 Secretary of State will be one of the most important races of 2018. No matter where you live, if u care about free & fair elections, pls follow voting rights champion @KathleenClyde, candidate for SOS in this critical swing state! Pls reply #Done when u do. Thx!
10/ P.S. I forgot to mention that, as Ohio SOS, Ken Blackwell (R) re-routed election night results thru a “backup server” in TN that was hosted by Smartech, a company owned by Karl Rove’s IT guru. We can’t afford more election shenanigans in Ohio!
11/ Here are more strong candidates 4 the important office of Secretary of State! Michigan is also a key swing state & Arizona has been targeted by the #Kochs as a focus point for their radical agenda. If we have free & fair elections, we can defeat them!
12/ We must pay attention to the 2018 race for Secretary of State in the swing state of Michigan as well. One of the 3 GOP candidates, Guzman, co-chaired Trump’s campaign in Michigan! This is NOT what we want! freep.com/story/news/loc…
13/ If Guzman wins the Michigan SOS race, he wld follow in the corrupt tradition of Katherine Harris (FL, hanging chads, “mistaken” purge of enuf non-felons 2 change election outcome) & Ken Blackwell (Ohio), who also co-chaired presidential campaigns b4 they were elected as SOS!
14/ Source for post 13 re: former Florida SOS Katherine Harris’s “mistaken” purge of enough non-felon voters to throw the race from Gore to Bush.

2/ The author of the article says It may help to warn people in advance that they are likely to forget the correction bc “this helps them mentally tag the bogus information as false.”
3/ It’s also “important that the corrective information be repeated as frequently, and with even greater clarity, than the myth.”

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings but elections have been electronically suspect starting long before the Trump/Russia scandal. This article is lulling folks into a false sense of security, which is dangerous. Domestic hackers & insiders were always an equal threat. 1/

I agree, tho not enuf time (and 0 political will) to do this in Nov. Wish it were different. For now I hope to stop states from doubling up on electronics w/ touchscreen ballot markers. Using electronics to count votes is bad enuf. Having them mark our ballots too is nuts. 1/
Nuts except for those who are unable to hand mark their ballots. Once you have hand marked paper ballots they can be either scanned or hand counted (my preference) or both. 2/
Any time u put a machine between the voter and the paper record of voter intent there is an opportunity for programming mischief. Here is just the latest example.: 3/

I’m hoping some of the cyber experts who signed the letter about the risks of using cellular modems to transfer election results can answer this question. Thx! @philipbstark @SEGreenhalgh @rad_atl @jhalderm

Seeing as no one has answered yet, I will say that even if the cellular modems CAN be configured to bypass the internet, we should not have to blindly trust that vendors or whoever else is hired to set them up will do that. 1/

The notion that cellular modems affect only “unofficial” results is bogus bc, among other reasons, in certain jurisdictions, unofficial results become the official results once added to absentees & provisionals—sometimes w/o ever comparing them to the precinct results tapes! 1/
And Wisconsin doesn’t even require that counties publicly post the results tapes so that the public itself can make this comparison! (I don’t know about Florida, Michigan, & Illinois.) 2/
Thus, we must simply trust that someone trustworthy is conducting this due diligence. In Johnson County, Kansas, the County acknowledged that it does NOT conduct this basic due diligence. 3/
