I really think we are doing a disservice by labeling all these #WhileBlack incidents as “white people calling the cops for no reason”

White people are calling the police for the same reason the police were created: to make themselves feel safe & to control Black people they feel do not know their place.

This “no reason” language is far too tame to describe what is actually going on & language matters when confronting societal issues.

It also add a layer of naïveté to the actions of racism white people which quite frankly is also an illustration of white supremacy

White people learn almost at birth that the police are FOR THEM. That when called they WILL ALWAYS be believed & always be supported.

So they KNOW quite well what will happen - that’s why it’s often their FIRST threat in any conflict with Black folks “I’m going to call the police if you don’t....”

Now is a good time for folks to revisit this info graphic - there are DIRECT correlations between the founding function of policing in the USA & these #WhileBlack incidents

And let me also say - while I do believe racist white people are truly showing their entire asses in the Toupee Fiasco era - these incidents are NOT new.

Black people have had to deal with this since forever.
IMO What has changed are two things:
1) Video evidence of the incidents which has led to...
2) Increased media coverage

This country was founded on the principle that SOME people’s “safety” was more important than truth, liberty & freedom. That has never changed.

Black people in the USA have never known the freedom to go where we please free from fear. We continually have to evaluate our own safety on a moment by moment basis.

I often say the REAL importance of #BlackExcellence is that we are able to excel as a people even with a significant amount of our energy & brain power being sucked up by racism every minute of every day.

So yea - let’s stop the “no reason” rhetoric with regard to actions of racist white people - they know exactly what they are doing.

They know the harm they are potentially inflicting. They know how police operate. They know how much of a power differential there is. THEY FUCKING KNOW.
