If you want to disentangle what people really think (or value) from what they say they think (or value), follow the money. Don’t listen to what they *say* about TV show X, book Y or band Z. Look at what they *pay.* (Just today, for instance, a Radio 4 feature pointed out the difference when it comes to Friends—people say it’s not inclusive enough for them now, but stream it like crazy anyway.)
