Be skeptical in moments like this. Yes, you'll get harsh statements from Hill Republicans, and maybe even some prominent Trumpers disavowing the president. But like in shocking moments of the past, many soon realize the Republican base remains behind him and end up crawling back We often ask what Congressional Rs will do about Trumps latest shocker, which is valid, but also ignores that politicians are largely acting in accordance w/ what they think the base cares abt. And until base voters come see that presser as shocking, I wouldn't expect much change
