Hi from the Whitmer watch party in the #MIGOV race. Early results only but if Abdul El-Sayed was looking to replicate Bernie map from 2016 presidential primary -- things are going to have to change. Whitmer up big in Clinton County with 40% of precincts in. Bernie won by 13 pts
I'd say it's still worth watching the numbers here. Whitmer probably wants to be over 50 percent to claim statewide mandate, and we'll see how El-Sayed performs in cities like in and around Detroit. Results page here nytimes.com/interactive/20…

Michigan gubernatorial candidate Abdul El-Sayed is endorsed by Oakland County Democratic Black Caucus. (Oakland County is north of Detroit with about 1.2 million residents.)
Earlier, rival gubernatorial candidate Shri Thanedar got the support of some Baptist pastors and civil rights leaders in Detroit. The black vote in the Democratic primary is influential:
April survey showed that gubernatorial candidate Gretchen Whitmer was struggling with minority support:
"Thenadar holds a strong lead over Whitmer of 38.7%-14.3% among black voters"
