In just under four hours, we're streaming @NightInTheWoods. As a Southern Ohio native, this one has me REALLY excited thanks to their appearance on @thetrillbillies.
Kindly shut up. We’ve had numerous rapists as Presidents with zero consequences.
The only thing that’s not normal is the discussion of possibly making it matter this time.
"This is not norma—"
YES IT FUCKING IS. IT FUCKING IS AND MAYBE IF WE SHUNNED MEN LIKE THIS 25 FUCKING YEARS AGO INSTEAD OF GIVING THEM EVEN MORE POWER, WE WOULDN'T FUCKING BE HERE TODAY

Oh god, I have a shitty opinion.
I get some of the points about the new contrapoints video. Some I think are reaching. But the response to the video is one reason I don't work out complex feelings about my gender in public very often.

Today I'm wrapping the final cleanup pass on #ULTRA. If you haven't preordered it yet, it releases in days! Please grab your copy now!
So, yay, more visual novels! This is a good thing. But I can't quite put my finger on why an article talking about how if you don't like (insert very Japanese genre), you'll like (games by non-JP developers) "reinventing the genre" rubs me the wrong way.

Actually, replacement works to explain. “Don’t like burritos? Think beans are gross? Here are four non-Mexican chefs who might change your mind. They’re reinventing the dish.” That’s it.

This is terribly sad. This is why business growth is the enemy of creativity.

So. There's a lesson here, for those interested. When you're doing big name licenses, the prices always go up. That means you need to sell more and more to make the same profits you're used to.

In Tokyo at a pop up coffee shop from Chicago called @DarkMatter2521, listening to Martin Atkins from PiL, Pigface, and Killing Joke talk. Old school. Drinking away my shitty mood with an AMAZING imperial stout from Niigata.
Apparently PiL’s Metal Box is not cookware safe, and people have gotten sick making edible brownies in it.

Democratic Socialism: A short thread.
Imagine, if you will, a massive machine. It was invented to grind innocent people into blood meal. This blood meal sprays out to help fertilize the flowers on murderers' lawns.

Okay. As someone who grew up in a destitute town that used to thrive on mining and collapsed years ago, I need to briefly fucking re-litigate 2016 because I feel like people STILL don't goddamn get it.
Bill Clinton devastated a lot of these communities. So there's a ton of resentment there. But let's be perfectly clear: NOT ALL OF THAT WAS BY DIRECTLY DESTROYING FUCKING JOBS. So you can't just say, "but he didn't ACTUALLY destroy their jobs." Because fuck you.

This is great. They mention a guy who accused White Wolf of being fascist. But they conveniently ignore the part where a White Wolf employee was casually chatting with GamerGaters on Twitter and doxed that critic. You know, for inclusion.
motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/…
And, like, you can STILL look at their Facebook posts, which get hundreds of comments, some 90% of them are decrying "political correctness," "SJWs," and "Cultural Marxism." Gosh I wonder why people think you're appealing to fascists.

John McCain gave me one of my first, biggest moments of disillusionment with liberals. Watching Jon Stewart fellate him every night on The Daily Show, while talking about how he wanted to withhold civil rights from people like me was so eye opening.
Watching the "Rally to Restore Sanity" promote the idea that there was anything even remotely acceptable about people who would support a man like John McCain flipped a switch in my head.

Dear Senator John McCain, from the bottom of my heart, thanks for finally doing something good for the world.
Cancer, like John McCain, kills a lot of innocent people. But unlike McCain, liberals don’t seem to think cancer is noble and heroic. Even when it does something objectively good like kill John McCain. It has a better record for making good choices than John McCain has.

The absolute worst games are games that don’t know what they want to be and don’t settle on clear, cohesive statements communicated through narrative context and followed through with synchronized play mechanics.
One of my biggest red flags is a game that's difficult to describe quickly without using another game. If you have to refer to multiple games to describe your game, your game is probably bad. Especially if you have to tell us what game it's NOT like.

Vampires can be metaphor for queer identity AND sexual assault.
Follow me for a second: Cishet people who want to write about and fetishize queer people seem incapable of telling stories about us without sexual assault, because it’s a pig shit culture.
Stoker? Pig shit culture.
Rice? Pig shit culture.
It doesn’t mean they were writing in bad faith. Just that they’re so mired in their cultural bullshit that it seeps out like fresh-drawn blood.

I'm so afraid that with the media pushing political agendas, I'm going to have to explain to my children about cisgender heterosexuality. How is a parent supposed to do that?
I'm not a bigot or anything. It's just that I think that as a parent, I should have the right to expose my children to cisgender heterosexuality when I want, instead of having it forced down their throat in school. They're kids! When is too early?

Democratic Socialism is like offering me bandages while someone is currently stabbing me.
It's the most milquetoast extension of liberalism. I WILL SUPPORT IT, if it means dragging the Overton Window left. Which it seems to be doing. But fuck you if you think it's the answer. It's a means, NOT an end.

Kamala Harris: “Less than a third of Americans deserve a home.”
Apropos to the thread I just posted. When the new White Wolf guys started using alt-right dogwhistles, I feel like the only person who wasn’t surprised. Their lead developer is a proud Ted Cruz supporter. In other words: he wants abortion doctors dead.
And it’s funny to me (or sad) because I said I would never lay down cash for something made by someone who openly wants the kinds of things Ted Cruz is for. And people were SHOCKED. After all, they never saw his terrorist views in his Cthulhu games!

At a certain point, we have to ask ourselves if we’re punishing people for making awful, damaging, bigoted choices, or if we’re only punishing them for SAYING awful, damaging, bigoted things.
A lot of us are willing to stand up, call out, boycott, and take people to task for being vocally bigoted about the pet issue of the day. But what about the people who quietly make those choices?

Author tip: Adding homophobia to your story doesn’t make it feel “more realistic.” It makes it a chore for LGBT people. Unless it’s the point of your story, figure something else out.
Author tip 2: LGBT people are not wizards. We’re not mutants. We’re not aliens. We’re not vampires, no matter how we might dress. Rule of thumb, if your LGBT allegory has different abilities than normal humans, it’s a shitty allegory.
