It’s been my experience that they send infrequent messages and event reminders only, you won’t get a bunch of spam. Let’s meet up #BlackTwitter and #resist Twitter.

The listening tour that @jack has been on as CEO of Twitter found its way to me this week. I recorded my one hour conversation with him on my iPhone 5. Then @Recode made a podcast out of it, with transcript. recode.net/2018/9/14/1785… 1/2
Among the things I talked about with @jack: an edit feature; a "live now" button you could turn on and off that would say, I'm on and reachable; what he heard from conservatives when he met with them; his view that Twitter should be an "impartial" platform— but not "neutral." 2/2
Ideas I suggested to @jack: Twitter needs public editors plural; tech companies pride themselves on being innovative but in their public communications it's the same old PR; I don't know how to alert @Twitter to a problem its people should look at. (He said tweet about it.) 3/3

The Alex Jones news really has me conflicted. The last time I left Twitter it was because of abuse from people like that.

Twitter has no reason to change if we stay. But then the harassers get what they want if we go.
I have helped build communities here. I was one of the first #BlackTwitter people here. I couldn't find any other black people here at first.
Haven't decided what to do. But if anyone wants to chat about what a proper response to this is, we can chat on GroupMe, Signal, Slack etc. Let me know.

Woke up to #BlackTwitter flipping out over @IssaRae’s excerpt. Here’s where she got that from...@christianrudder, co-founder of @okcupid wrote about how race affects the messages you get on one of the largest dating platforms in the world.
OkCupid is an actual data set. They, alongside other dating sites, have been tracking metrics. And those are damn good metrics with 4 million + users. You put what race you identify and then they track your interests. theblog.okcupid.com/how-your-race-…
In his book, he didn’t just use @okcupid’s data set. He uses other platforms as well. If you didn’t know 40% of Americans use online dating. Know how we always read the report that says “a new study finds.” Well this ain’t that. Here’s some hard data:

So, let me do a bit of story time on @KanyeWest, since he thinks he's out of The Sunken Place. And I can't thank @JordanPeele enough for his metaphor.
*stirs tea in teacup*.
I have a confession. The only reason why I am not mad at @KanyeWest right now is because I have held a petty grudge against him for many years because he had a mother with a Ph.D. who taught Literature at Chicago State University, yet he named his first album, "College Dropout."
I did not mean to hold the grudge that long; but it just continued because of everything I would feel every single time I saw that album and thought about not only his Mother but everything at Chicago State University, home of the Gwendolyn Brooks Black Writer's Conference.

Its time to take .@twitter/.@jack/.@ev to task, long thread incoming!
our good friend .@jack supported this recent article medium.com/s/state-of-the…
the article's writers are calling literally for California to be the model for the rest of not only the United States but for the rest of the western world. This is a joke of the multitudes, especially after what has gone done in facebook and the rest.

Ok ya'll, give me like 30 more minutes (tonight's #MusicSermon took a bit of organizing), and we'll get started with tonight's service.
If the ushers will please start seating, and the praise & worship team come...

I apologize for the lateness in the hour, and ya'll might as well get prepared, saints, cause I think this is gonna be a kind of long one, but I gotta get it out how I feel it, amen?
We all know by now (I hope) that #MusicSermon is a B2K (before 2000) centered ministry. However, I promised that at some point, I would heavily relax those restrictions for a specific sermon topic, and I believe the time has come…

“It’s easy to forget now, but just a few generations ago African-Americans overwhelmingly identified themselves as Republicans.”

In the fall of 1895 Atlanta put on one in a series of “International Expositions” designed to highlight its progress in recovering from the war. Racial tensions had been growing since southerners, at the end of Reconstruction, began instituting Jim Crow laws.
The organizers of the Exposition invited prominent black leader Booker T. Washington to give a keynote address. The position he took in that speech was a calculated gamble.

Early Signs of Trouble - A History of #WhiteSupremacy at First Baptist Church (Dallas).

How a #Dallas church with a history of oppposing civil rights for African Americans formed a long and toxic relationship with the Republican Party. #maga #blackconservatives #BlackTwitter
“In 1956, the Supreme Court had recently struck down school segregation in the Brown v. Board of Education case. President Eisenhower had sponsored sweeping civil rights legislation.”
Dr. King was organizing bus boycotts. Pressure was building against segregation across the South. At that time, there may have been no more influential figure in the Southern Baptist Convention than W.A. Criswell, the pastor of the enormous First Baptist Church in Dallas.
