Today is a good day to talk about decriminalisation of abortion after #repealedthe8th #legisl8
Under gov proposals it is an offence for a doctor to perform an abortion except as prescribed by law.
An offence attracting a penalty of between 12 mths in prison/Class A fine to 14 years. (So gov contemplates breaches from the minor to those where one or more women is seriously injured or killed)

Oh the number of times that got said to all of us, by people who didn't understand the importance of breaking the taboo around the work abortion.
I had people tell me so many times that the abortion rights campaign @freesafelegal needed to change its name or we would never #repealthe8th
That @freesafelegal needed to rebrand, or would not be taken seriously or be interviewed by media. While I was regularly on local, national & International media.

If I had a vote in October, I would probably vote to remove 41.2. But it is disappointing that repeal is the only choice being offered.
41.2 has 2 parts - the fairly offensive 'women in the home' provision, and the half-useful in theory/useless in practice 'promise' of economic support for women in the home.
It's a double whammy of Catholic social teaching - we confine women to the private sphere and we ensure the state won't force you to leave it. But as for positive economic supports, you are only entitled to marriage or charity.

Having suffered with a very rare and extremely debilitating illness called hyperemesis gravidarum during my first pregnancy, I was excited but terrified of falling victim to the condition again.
The chances are high that it will return on subsequent pregnancies.
I consoled myself with the fact that after 4 or 5 months of living hell during my first pregnancy, I was finally prescribed a medication that was very effective.
