#HomesFirst Reaching my limit now. After numerous recent minor (and not so minor) instances have just found my flat door open.

Was bulk cooking in the kitchen for the month when I noticed the arrival of the latest noise-merchants upstairs was louder than usual. /1
Walked into the hall and my flat door is open.

One of them had clearly been trying the handles of all the flats rather than just the one they were renting as an STL.

Hadn't even bothered to close it when after they opened it and heard a noise inside (music on the PC) /2
This may seem like nothing to anyone who doesn't live in a flat in a residential block beset by the plague of #HolidayLets. But imagine if these arseholes had NOT heard a noise..? #STL flats represent a SERIOUS SECURITY THREAT to the lives and homes of those who LIVE in /3

In 2010, I covered a @Bourdain book-tour stop at #stl’s @TheFoxTheatre where a boy with leukemia asked his culinary idol where he should go eat - anywhere in the world - once he’s in remission. Bourdain didn’t hesitate: Spain. But then...1/3
...after @Bourdain left town and our story about the tour appearance ran, his assistant reached out to me, privately. Bourdain wanted to help send this kid to Spain and make it the time of his life. 2/3
So, with the help of @MakeAWish, Evan Piña-White went to Spain. We wrote about that - google.com/amp/www.stltod… - but the story doesn’t mention Bourdain’s involvement (per his wishes). He set the kid up at the best restaurants & helped make the trip incredible. He was special. 3/3

It's with a heavy heart that we closed the doors to @WellspringSTL. I wanted to share some of my experiences at this beautiful church. (thread incoming)
I first attended the Well on the 1st anniversary of #MikeBrown's death, August 2015. Upon arrival, a later familiar face greeted me with a hearty "Good morning and welcome to Wellspring!" I then received a hug from another friend-to-be and was shown to my seat with a coffee.
The service was both memorial and call to action; something must be done to stop these police killings. I had participated in the Boston marches last year, but @FWillisJohnson delivered a sermon that truly stirred my spirit. What soon transpired was a life-changing journey.

So yesterday I damn near got hit by a car, driven by a police officer, who recklessly endangered at least dozens of people if not more.
What happened next was: protesters - the front-line Ferguson crew, specifically, de-escalated the situation while police did the opposite.
And with NO MENTION of that car incident, the police in #STL are now saying that protesters were just weirdly angry! Nearly spontaneously!
