So funny: @NYMag actually published an article claiming the US has long been meddling in Latin America & supporting dictators **in orders to promote democracy** there. When @aaronjmate & others noted the hilarity, they changed it describe the real motives of US "meddling":
Regarding #meddling, you can watch William Buckley & Noam Chomsky argue in 1969 about the countless places the US bombed, invaded & "meddled" to change other countries' governments. Nobody denied the US did it: debate was whether US did it out of love
I can't wait to watch historians a few decades from now grapple with how to explain that the US media got Americans to view themselves as the victims of #meddling rather than all-time world champions and contemporary pioneers of it: in the most extreme & malicious forms.

Newly discovered secret documents from 1970s prove: the US Govt - while publicly denying that the Brazilian dictatorship they helped install & then supported was using torture against dissidents - knew it was using torture extensively www1.folha.uol.com.br/ilustrissima/2…
Brazil's elected left-wing government was overthrown by a CIA-supported military coup in 1964, resulting in a brutal 21-year reign of the US/UK-supported military dictatorship. Other secret USG docs discovered in May described their savagery theguardian.com/world/2018/may…

(1/5) I have a Twitter rant thread in response to @trish_regan saying #Trump "should have defended us" during the #TrumpPutinSummit. Let's talk about this statement:
(2/5) My first question is in response to "Our president should have defended us." Defended us against what? #Russians #meddling? That supposedly happened under #Obama. Are you sure you are criticizing the right #POTUS here?
(3/5) My 2nd question is who is "us?" Have you forgotten how hard #Trump fights for America & her citizens? When Trump said the words that you interpreted as "throwing America under the bus," I didn't take it personally at all, because you are wrong thinking it is about America.

Now we’ve got a report about the big #TrumpProtest today in London to mark the #TrumpUKvisit. @realDonaldTrump stayed away, complaining the British public had made him feel “unwelcome.”
.@POTUS managed to insult his host @theresa_may within hours of arriving, after @TheSun published this interview bit.ly/2NeCOeC. He slammed her #Brexit strategy, said he would kill a trade deal, and praised her arch rival @BorisJohnson #awkward
At their joint press conference, 40 miles from London, @realDonaldTrump said he’d apologized to the PM – but also said that the recording of the interview would prove it was all #fakenews.

Brand new analysis on the work of the Forensicator.

Examines the DNC's self-own on their claims of hacking, which were contradicted by an 'anonymous DNC official' quoted by the Associated Press in Nov '17.

This article discusses the DNC's refutation of their own narrative on Russian hacking.

Turns out the document we were all told had "Russian fingerprints" on it did not come from the DNC emails, but from the Podesta email collection.
Crowdstrike's Shawn Henry - previously of the FBI - told WaPo that it was the theft of the Trump Oppo doc which set of the alarms that the DNC had been breached. This is huge, because that doc was attached to one of John Podesta's emails.

I've talked before about Russian #disinformation, and how the goal is to exploit existing divisive issues to weaken the enemy. 1 #InformationWarfare #WednesdayWisdom #CambridgeAnalytica #Russie #Putin #deza
Bernie v. Hillary, Benghazi & the "email scandal" were perfect targets. There was already tension & division on those topics, so they were easy to exploit. 2
Russia also targeted #peopleofcolor (specifically black voters) to sow distrust of Hillary & the political process, which helped Trump's campaign. 3
