So sick of this. Feeling quite despondent about things, so a big rant incoming.

I'm not only sick of populism, but sick of those who object to fighting the populism with more vigor.

#FBPE
Over the past week or so we've had a Neo-Nazi thug taking video footage at court in order to rile up race hate in a manner reminiscent of the Brownshirts of old.

We've had numerous people call for his release in "mainstream" news like Fox and The Spectator.
We've also had a member of Parliament and one time leader of the Conservative party demand that people all line up behind his vision or literally leave the country entirely.

And this is against a background of pressure and aggression that has now been going on for years. This crap is happening on a daily basis now. If you don't think the UK is in serious peril you're not paying attention.

There is less than a year left. The evidence of what will happen is so stark that even the likes of Hannan are talking about EFTA's and trying to distance themselves from the mess.

It's going to be a disaster, and everyone with half a braincell knows it.

The populists don't.
They await their fortune and glory on Brexit day. When it isn't delivered, what are they going to do?

Very chillingly, do you know who they're starting to point the finger at already, dear Remainer?

You.

After leaving day, when the economy starts turning to ashes, when food starts going bare on the shelves, when EU citizens are being literally rounded up and put into "welcome centers", any utterance of Brexit being a mistake will be met with far greater hostility than this.
If you think they'll admit their mistakes, apologise, or decide they want to give the EU another try, or do anything logical at all, then you don't know who you're dealing with.

The first casualties will be people who try to speak against them.

The doddering old fool Corbyn isn't coming to the rescue, he's pushing for it so he can rebuild his Trotskyist utopia after it all collapses.

The rational left and right aren't going to make a move until they feel they have more public support. It needs to be loud and angry.
So it really is time to start aggressively and loudly trying to shut these people up. Not "address their concerns", not allow them to speak and try to ignore them. But silence them. Silence their hate and bigotry and make it unacceptable to be openly racist/xenophobic again.
I'm not saying open up with aggression. Try reason first, and if it works that's great.

But where it fails repetition of reason will just fail again. Then it's time to call it out. Then it's time to call these people what they really are.
If someone is defending Robinson they're supporting Neo-Nazis. They are a Neo-Nazi.

If someone has "concerns" that foreigners might be working in Britain they're a bigoted racist.

If someone "loves Europe but hates the EU" they're a lying sack of shit.

If your rejoinder is "This is sinking to their level!" then tell me, when the big guy in this video slams the smaller guys face into the ground, is he really "sinking to his level"?

No, it is not sinking to their level. If you're walking around London with a gun armed police will show up to deal with you. They're not "sinking to your level" by doing that.

If people are peddling hate, and reason won't stop then it's time to turn their weapons against them.
If you want to say "it's unhelpful", try telling that to the populists who've been winning for the past two years and taking everything, including your country and your future, away from you by using these exact tactics.
Yes, it's very helpful, or else slurs and attacks wouldn't have the power that they do.

It's very important that high-profile voices and experts keep their hands clean and avoid such tactics of course, but for the rest of us? I say have at it now, because yes it is helpful.
Screw manners, screw sensitivities. Calmly and passively sitting by and watching fascists take over makes us part of the problem. Trying to rationally and calmly explain the benefits of the single market to this individual is a complete waste of time.

If it were possible to reason with what remains of the hardcore populists it would have already been done by now.

Prove me wrong. Go and try out some facts about George Soros on this chap.

Persuade him that he is wrong, and I'll shut up.

We're almost out of time. A fresh election looms.

If you've got friends who "understand" Tommy Robinson it's time to rethink those friendships.

If you've got a relative who thinks "they should all be sent back" it's time to point out, to them, that they're an obnoxious racist.
If you're willing to stand by and watch as half this country, including the kids who couldn't vote and the foreigners who have made their homes here, are rhetorically beaten by the thuggish element of Leave because you "lose the moral high ground"...
...then you lack not only that moral high ground you claim to be standing on but the courage to actually act against what is wrong.

If you "don't want to make a fuss" your apathy is utterly toxic, possibly even worse than the people standing around complaining about decorum.
The people working at the home office? The people involved in a latter day Milgram experiment and happily signing forms deporting settled people because of where their mother happened to be when they were born?

The people "just following orders"....
....the people bashing on doors at 5AM and ready to drag a young woman from her bed and lock her in a cell because, oh my gosh, she could be a foreigner?

Again, "Just following orders"...

theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/m…
...it's time to start calling that out too. If someone is asked to do that crap then they should walk away from the job. If everyone there said "No. As in fuck you. As in we're not going doing this." then #windrush would not have happened.

The banality of evil is on all of us.
Enough of this shit. They're not worth civilized discourse or consideration.

So I made this thread the other day on the perilous state of the UK and the behaviour of certain high-profile figures (Rees-Mogg, Farage) towards EU27 citizens living in the UK.

A few people said "Don't be so dramatic". So how bad is it really?

Thread.

In 2016 a vote was held which was subject to foreign interference by a hostile foreign power.

I refer of course to the 2016 US presidential election.

Putin's candidate won. But the "victors" could protest they won all they liked. They could use any slogan they wanted....
...the US legal system swing into action.

Now, less than two years after that election, at least two people have gone to prison, several people are cooperating with the FBI, there have been guilty pleas, and at least 36 people indicted.

And it's not even over yet.

Can I have the attention of people who voted for #Brexit, liberal Leavers, Lexiteers, and people with concerns about national sovereignty.

Please, stop supporting this now. This entire thing has gone too far. Please read this thread, I'm begging you.
In the past few days we've had two very prominent Brexit advocates come out with absolute poison concerning EU nationals living in the UK. First there was
@Nigel_Farage.

Then @Jacob_Rees_Mogg comes out with this.

Make no mistake, these men are now openly advocating ethnic cleansing. If the UK were actually at war with the EU, these threats would be considered war crimes.

To my #FBPE friends, in the event of a #Peoplesvote, please let's not rerun the last referendum campaign and end up with #Brexit again.

We love Europe, we shouldn't be half-heartedly defending it, we should be enthusiastically promoting it.
Wrong:

"It's not perfect but we're better in than out."

"Hardworking EU immigrants are essential to our country."

"Inside the EU we can veto laws and things we don't like, outside we can't."

"We can negotiate hard to get what we want in Europe, outside we can't."
Right:

"It's not perfect but it's bloody good."

"It gives us the freedom to work, learn, love & live in an entire continent."

"EU courts give us an extra option to hold our government to account, giving us more control over our own lives."

"The EU are our friends and allies."

No, that caller represents the majority.

What singles him out is the fact he's honest and isn't afraid to look as stupid as he is.
Most people you meet, most who suddenly have a revelation about the single market or the facts on immigration, they're just nodding. It's what people do. Nod, avoid an argument, and go about their day. Those who'll actually make their case (Leave or Remain) are a rarity.
This is what terrifies me about this whole "People's vote" business. If you're deeply buried in the data and information then it's easy to see that Leaving is going to be a disaster.

If you're not, a few things cost a bit more and that's all. Until it happens it's a non-event.

If we vote for anything except for Corbyn's Labour we're Tories, apparently.

I think; No. In fact I think the reason we've got austerity, Brexit, and nearly ten years of political decay is, to some extent, the fault of the very idiots who say this. Let me explain.
Just over a decade ago the UK had a centrist pro-EU and popular leader in Tony Blair. Anyone remember the guy?

Here he is being "strong and stable" in the face of Farage.

independent.co.uk/video/News/ton…
Of course he wasn't perfect. He was Labour leader, yet rich people hadn't been ground into dust. Of course welfare, social service, NHS, police, and other forms of public service spending were ramped up, but still, he didn't eradicate the capitalist pig-dogs. He did all this...

The first calling point of the UK's remainers immediately after Davis's resignation will not be Brussels, it will be Berlin, to have a party.
(1/3) Post #DavisResignation a Berlin-Remain party would include blue flags and "Ode to Joy", and exchanges of a lot of high-fiving and cheering.
(2/3) Similar parties would be held in other key EU nations with Brits living in them.
