I would like to sincerely thank @redistrict for his highly dismissive tweet and point out to @CookPolitical what Dave is missing in this race by skimming candidates with a (hopefully brief) #sundaysoapbox.
I have a pretty niche skill set in a lot of ways - I'm grabbing skills that apply to Congress specifically.
I like reading bills (I know, right?)
I can translate said bills into mostly plain english
I am decent at recognizing unintended consequences before they hit
I tell the truth and deliver those truths in ways most people can hear it
I don't try to change people
I'm not shiny or polished, and don't want to be
I am not financially motivated
I am constitent and unapologetic in my beliefs, shifting only when data or perspective shifts
This bundle of skills leads me to a broad base of support. Last night hard right, through moderate, to far left saw your tweet and jumped in to support me.
Which is amazing, thank you all!
They all see me as their person, because I am.
MAGA hat, pussy hat, tin foil hat, hatless...there are a *lot* of overlapping goals.
We objectively have shared problems, and I am flexible to solutions as long as they are $ responsible, humane, and an improvement.
My followers know I have a range. They know they don't all like each other.
That's ok.
They don't have to trust or like each other. They can agree that I'm not out to screw anyone, I am reasonable, I am fair.
They agree on me.
Isn't that what is missing Dave?
Much like with family law clients, I tell them what to push for, what doesn't matter, when they are being ridiculous, when they are making choices that are hurtful, and when they are screwing up their kids.
I can say all those things and be listened to because I am their person.
Much like when I am a mediator, I am trusted to find those common goals and solutions that may not be perfect, but are palatable.
People aren't stupid.
They know government won't ever be perfect.
They know that we need to be flexible.
They know the other side won't go away.
Almost every person in this country wants:
Healthcare access
Infrastructure
Healthy communities
Small business to be able to thrive
To not be poisoned
To be safe
To be free to be themselves
For children to have a future
The vulnerable/forgotten to be cared for
Someone(s), somehow sold the US that they can only have these things in one political party.
30% ish are convinced it's GOP
30% ish are convinced it's Dem
40% ish think the parties are annoying AF and are somewhere between siding with least annoying and Go Anarchy!
It's not true.
We *know* it's not true.
Most of us feel the chaos and the ripping apart and want it to stop.
I have a challenge for you @Redistrict and anyone in the media.
Go ahead crew, tag in, DM, call your cousin that works for some show somewhere.
Pick 10.
Find 10 people kind of like me.
Maybe we struggle with exposure.
Maybe we don't all like attention (because let me tell you I so dislike this kind of attention, have a google at how much of an attention-seeker I have historically been, but I digress)
Find 10 people anywhere in the US that have the Willy Wonka golden ticket skill set:
✔Caring about government structure
✔Trustworthy
✔(at least seemingly) not corruptible
✔Able to get buy in from more than 1 party
Float us up.
Forget the money, the ratings, the drama - just for 10 people.
Pick 10 people you wish were doing the job, who shouldn't be a foot note. Think of us as your pro bono project.
Go ahead and pay your mortgage - Keep doing what you've been doing for everyone else.
If 5 of those 10 get in Congress, we'll be headed back to the us we like more.
I volunteer as tribute.
I'm boring.
I'm middle aged.
I'm not photogenic.
I could go my whole life without being on tv, but I'll do it.
I hate humidity, but I will tolerate DC.
Find 9 more.

If media won't do it, you do it.
If 10k do a #MaineRaising, I will probably win no matter how much $ the men dump in.
So help my district and buy stuff from small businesses anywhere in the green and tell them I sent you like the sample.
It's a save democracy scavenger hunt.
Share your #MaineRaising, help the world find the businesses and products you find.
@ your favorite celebs, media, etc.
If @HuffPost can have several stories about what twitter said at any time, why not this?
If @FoxNews wants to show balance, here is your balance.

I am a constituent of Susan's. Ever since I have moved here I am astonished at how incredibly effective she is at harnessing people's hope and her words like a damn magician.
Though she is a consistent conservative vote, she is able to focus all eyes on her.
Then your family and community will look at you different.
Your behavior will be questioned, and even if you has zero responsibility, many will blame you for being a tease, wanting it, being irresponsible for choosing what should be a totally innocuous setting.
In this hypo traditional campaigning requires around $1+ million per year to get and/or keep a house seat (plus all the other energy you have to expend to keep the peanut gallery PACs happy).
Let's assume they're at it 5 days/week and take a couple weeks off per year.
Too many really lovely people hoping for their partner, child, parent, etc to be the person they could be if that partner, child, parent, etc if they only changed, which of course they have no desire and/or resources to do.
I've been asked this a lot - what is the benefit of ranked choice voting?
If you feel like politics keeps pushing far left or far right as candidates differentiate, RCV lets you pick the moderate with the back-up of "not the other one".
Maybe you think of yourself as an independent, moderate, etc, and really don't love either party (but probably like one party less) - you can select me as your first choice, and still have the back up of another candidate if not enough people agree with you. #mepolitics
In this race, folks who like Bruce probably don't like Jared, folks who prefer Jared probably aren't keen on Bruce.
A lot of folks would like (or find less annoying) someone who really isn't a party. With RCV, you can do that! It removes the risk of vote-splitting.
