I recently embarked on a long term health & wellness journey. Since I turned 40 I’ve been working on 1) getting toxic ppl out of my life & 2) being more focused on my general health.
This has involved many things, meditating regularly, changing lighting & temp controls in my home, new skin care regimen & of course alterations to my food intake & exercise.
I won’t be sharing much #onhere - but I do want to caution others who are on their own health & wellness journey to be aware of how they communicate around this topic. Far too many days I login & see posts that amt to: I was trash before but now that I’m not fat I have value.
That framing is inherently fat antagonistic and while that may not be your intent, the impact is harmful & we already know impact > intent.
A few ways I have been trying both online & IRL around health & wellness are:
- talking about increasing my flexibility & mobility.
- discussing how my stamina is be no effected.
- making note of how much stronger I am getting
These things are not scale or weight related.

I’m not perfect, no one is. I’m talking about this because I have seen how hurtful this open yet never talked about fat antagonism is to women I love. So when (not if) you see me f-up, please let me know.
