Division.
I love twitter.
If you’re careful and do it right it’s incredibly rewarding.
A fantastic way to engage directly with 1000’s of people and push a message far and wide.
Where else can you respond directly to your heroes and villains, friends and enemies.
However.../1
It’s also ideal for sowing division.
Bad people are experts at exploiting it.
And here we get to the point.
Don’t help them!
Think about who your enemies/allies are.
If you see a tweet you don’t wholly agree with, but it’s from someone with whom you share common ground.../2
check the context thoroughly!
Don’t just respond with a “yeah but...”
and derail a thread, or raise the temperature, ask yourself how your tweet is going to help.
Polite persuasion/ rebuttal or derision? Leave the anger and hate for the extremists. /3
It is actually possible to disagree with what you see, and not actually comment.
There is no obligation.
I do it all the time 😉
As Remainers, we have a #stopbrexit priority.
Ignoring the left/right extremists, we have Tories, labour,LibDem’s, greens, Scot Nats, neutrals etc. /4
There are four obvious areas of Division there.
So if we are all hating on each other, highlighting our different agendas, we do our enemies work for them.
Then the trolls and shills move in and amplify it. /5
Throw in some personality clashes too and Bam! We are in trouble.
If/when a #FinalSayForAll #PeoplesVote comes, Remain will need votes from
Tories,
Labour,
Moderate Corbyn supporters,
Scottish Nationalists.
Without that support, it doesn’t bear thinking about... /6
Another thing.
Criticism isn’t always abuse,
BUT, abuse is not always visible.
Remember quote tweets do not show up on threads.
And never ever assume how someone else is feeling. What may look innocuous on its own, could be a tiny part of a dripping tap to someone else./7
Lastly.
If you swear at, or accuse people, directly, particularly blue ticks, your visibility is reduced and it’s very likely you will get a ban.
Stay safe, debate well, look to your friends, Build Bridges.
Be strong.
Thanks. Ali. #FBPE

I want to make something clear.
The Remain campaign comes in for a lot of criticism from amongst others, Remainers.
Whilst there is some justification maybe, there is something worth remembering.
The official 2016 Remain campaign disappeared after the referendum. 1/
Those people, were headed up by,
Conservative Leaders/Mps who either resigned,
Or are now frantically trying to be hypocritical to themselves and push for hard Brexit.
Others were opposition MPs. Who are also pushing for Brexit. 2/
What has come about since, in my view anyway, is a mish mash of brave people from all walks of life, some “more official than others”
Some more organised than others,
But none more “worthy than others” 3/
