@The3Million #TheLastMile event about to get underway at #Lab18 Looking forward to hearing the latest updates on the fight to secure #CitizensRights
@PaulBlomfieldMP confirming that the shadow #brexit team stance is that current settled status proposition is inadequate.
1. It should be declaratory- not by application
2. It should be free, not reasonable to charge to maintain current rights.
@SebDance speaking now, describes as "heartbreaking" the situation where so many people came to build their lives in UK in good faith and had no say over the decision that might destroy this. "For citizens in limbo this is a nightmare"...

A year ago, those who thought Brexit could be stopped were seen by mainstream opinion as deluded. Both major parties were committed to executing Brexit. The BBC used 'when' not 'if' the UK leaves the EU as a matter of policy. Nobody had heard of a #PeoplesVote / #FinalSayForAll.
We've got a long way to go, and there are still endless obstacles - political, technical, diplomatic, legal - to stopping Brexit. We'll need to rely on the goodwill of EU27, and keep working our arses off to sell it to the UK public. We may not even be able to avert it.
But the shift in the last year shows that it is possible. 'Nobody is ruling out remain as an option' may seem guarded and noncommittal, but watch the video and listen to the response. Neither look or sound that to me.

@redalphababe @chesterforeu So true! 👏👏
You’ve done it now, Pilar! I feel a rant coming on....
We’re all just people.
UK citizens, EU citizens, citizens of the world. People with families, businesses, jobs, mortgages, hopes, plans, dreams for the future.
We once believed we lived in a civilised,
1/
@redalphababe @chesterforeu modern democracy, itself part of a
union, unprecedented in history, of sovereign European countries, weary of centuries of war & rivalry, working towards a better future for the coming generations of Europe than their forebears endured.
We’ve watched with growing horror as
2/
@redalphababe @chesterforeu arrogant, nefarious politicians have sacrificed truth, integrity, decency, cohesion, & yes, respect, as they have played a mad game of Russian roulette with our lives.
With the diabolical assistance of a monstrously powerful, unregulated gutter press, this unprincipled

Tonight's Brexit music is for every #OneOfThe5Million - @BritishInEurope & @The3Million. #FinalSayForAll

I wish you well
I tell you that it can't be helped
I told you it can't be helped
Oh but it can be helped

Grant Lee Buffalo - Wish You Well
The Dragon down south may blow some smoke
Even the Jester is drummin' up votes
They talk about building morale and hope
They're just building bigotry a better rope
Incidentally, 25 years on the album this is from, Fuzzy by Grant Lee Buffalo, remains one of my favourite of all time. Their second, Mighty Joe Moon is on that list too. Thank goodness @GrantLeeTweets had the brainwave to plug that Acoustic 12-String into a big Marshall Stack!

This may sound old-fashioned, but I was taught that respect is something that is earned. It's not something that you simply demand or can expect, without having done anything to deserve it. 1/
It, therefore, baffles me that I've been told so often that I must respect the result of the referendum. Why? How has it earned my respect? 2/
For a start the result was achieved by excluding #The5Million people, who are arguably the most immediately and directly impacted. This is not only undemocratic, but unfair and immoral. I have no respect for that. 3/

I get up every day, I worry about what Brexit will mean for me and my friends. I make a coffe thinking will I be able to visit the UK? I go into the garden wondering if my healthcare will be paid for. I prepare lunch not knowing how much less my pension will be.
I go to the shops thinking if anything happens to my husband can I still go and live near my sister in Spain. I pack to visit the UK in our French reg car hoping this time I won't be verbally abused. Friends visit, my heart aches, I say nothing. My Twitter friends are my family.
My home is in France. I'm not French, I'm British, European. My life is here. It's the life I chose, given my rights. Rights I've had most of my life. I won't let anybody take away my rights.

I don’t know how you reconcile the country from here.... how do you forgive all the losses, particularly when they were so thoughtlessly incurred and the gains remain so dubious and distant?
@Conservatives @UKLabour

#FinalSayForAll #PeoplesVote
Seriously. How can this end well? How can Brexit ever unify a nation when it takes away far more than it gives and turns people against each other?

How can a vote that leads to this kind of selfish pig-headedness be unifying or respected? Where we all pay heavily for the blinkered resentment of a few.

“They [leave voters] trusted their vote would count, their voices heard.”

Let’s examine this justification for arguing that a #FinalSayForAll on the WIthdrawal Agreement would be a democratic ‘betrayal’ 1/
Has a) their vote counted and b) their voice been heard? 2/
The marginal leave vote has lead to a total overturn of normal UK Politics, fundamentally challenged the constitution, and led the entire machinery of Government to be almost entirely focussed on Brexit for more than 2 years 3/

#BrexitConcerns from the ONS about a worrying disparity in our trade statistics.

"in 2016, Britain recorded imports of services from seven countries of £68bn: but those countries registered total exports to the UK of £140bn"

Seems there is even more at stake than we realised.

Brexit is a bad decision.
I haven't a clue why the colours on that pic are inverted.
Here it is.
Just another huge reason to #LookB4WeLeave

As some of you already know, I'm 1/3 of the board of the Final Say For All Foundation, along with @grrrahh & @MintyTeaboy. We're closely supported by @Shieldmaid8 & @GuitarMoog. With growing support for a people's vote, I'd like to explain why it must be a @FinalSayForAll 1/
In the 2016 referendum #The5Million most directly affected were excluded from voting. This must not be allowed to happen again in any new vote that has such a direct impact on our lives. 2/
Let's first remind ourselves why it was decided to exclude #The5Million. EU27 in the UK were excluded on the grounds of citizenship. UK in the EU for 15+ years, were excluded on the grounds of residency. 3/

Division.
I love twitter.
If you’re careful and do it right it’s incredibly rewarding.
A fantastic way to engage directly with 1000’s of people and push a message far and wide.
Where else can you respond directly to your heroes and villains, friends and enemies.
However.../1
It’s also ideal for sowing division.
Bad people are experts at exploiting it.
And here we get to the point.
Don’t help them!
Think about who your enemies/allies are.
If you see a tweet you don’t wholly agree with, but it’s from someone with whom you share common ground.../2
check the context thoroughly!
Don’t just respond with a “yeah but...”
and derail a thread, or raise the temperature, ask yourself how your tweet is going to help.
Polite persuasion/ rebuttal or derision? Leave the anger and hate for the extremists. /3

In shock news from our secret sources within Whitehall! Prepare yourselves for a hitherto unknown and devastating brexit impact. As we import up to 95% of our punctuation, leaving the EU will change the very essence of our communication. A #FinalSayForAll is imperative now! 1/
Authors, academics, grammar Nazis, sign writers & the odd tabloid journalist are today reeling from the shock of discovering that hold ups at ports will cause hrs of delays for vital punctuation marks, forcing them to use domestic mathematical symbols to make any sense at all 2/
One source, who cannot be named for fear of reprisals, explained that the government has been warned that stockpiles will run out within hours or, as he put it "in minutes, if Megan Markle gets pregnant. It's a disaster waiting to happen. People are being kept in the dark." 3/

For those denied a vote in the EU referendum, #BrexitIsPersonal. We will continue to give a voice to those denied a say in their futures, and already affected by Brexit. Any future votes must include a #FinalSayForAll, and an #OptionToStay. Here’s how we hope to achieve this.
FinalSayForAll was founded by Bloke From Barnsley @Nickynoo007, John Ling @grrrahh and Michael Moss @MintyTeaboy, three British citizens who were concerned about the 5 million citizens both in the UK and the EU who were denied a vote in the EU referendum of 2016.
They met many people across social media who had very personal stories to tell, who felt that their voices were being drowned out by rallying cries of British independence and taking back control. Their lives have been turned upside down against their will.

1. Agree. But it's not just the gerrymandering - if you're going to exclude the people whose lives depend directly on the outcome of that vote (@The3Million @BritishInEurope) then you have a duty of care to fight especially hard to protect them. #FinalSayForAll #PeoplesVote
2. Not only has the UK NOT done that, it has actively sought to negotiate both @The3Million and @BritishInEurope into a worse position than we are now....all while promising that we could carry on as before. #PeoplesVote #FinalSayForAll
3. Enough is enough. If you're going to make people re-apply to live their life (on significantly worse terms than they currently have) then you owe them a vote. It's not about sympathy or special treatment...it's about political & personal agency. #FinalSayForAll #PeoplesVote

You could rationally, if unreasonably, exclude residents because they are non-citizens, or citizens because they are non-residents, but you can’t rationally do both… and yet they did. The 2016 referendum was illegitimate. #Gerrymandering #FinalSayForAll #PeoplesVote
How is it fair for an EU citizen like my mother, taxpaying resident in the UK for nearly 60 years, to be deprived of a vote, while NoFactsChloe can trip off a plane from Sydney and vote Leave? The 2016 referendum was illegitimate. #Gerrymandering #PeoplesVote #FinalSayForAll
People whose entire lives hung on the outcome were excluded, while people with zero stake in the matter and zero connection to this country were handed a vote. The franchise was undemocratic, the 2016 referendum was illegitimate. #Gerrymandering #FinalSayForAll #PeoplesVote

When I was 15 I got to take advantage of the FOM in the EU and travel to the then Czechoslovaika on a student exchange. Before calls of liberal elites etc I come from a normal working class family. I went there just after the fall of communism. 1.
There was a 5 hr queue for the new MacDonalds which was at the top of the square where the revolution happened months before. I saw a sculpture of hands coming out of a wall depicting those who died. That image has never left me. 2
I saw the Jewish cemetaries where they were buried upright to save space. I went to holocaust museum and saw the horrors of that. At 15 I decided that this should never happen again and I would never take my life for granted again. Yet here we are in 2018 24 years later. 3

1/8 Lets take a look at what has happened in the last 48hrs

@jeremycorbyn front bench has proposed a "new" Single Market for the UK to access the EU, you know, full access, frictionless boarders no tariffs

This is nothing more than cakeisum, cherry picking the EU won't allow
2/8 This is instead of supporting the x15 Lords amendments.

Yes, this means Labour will be abstaining from voting on those, possible 3 line whip
3/8 There are enough Tory rebels to offset the DUP !

The Tory rebels will vote for the x15 Lords amendments but only if they know Labour has their back

But it is also well known they wont vote for a @jeremycorbyn amendment, JC knows this very well.

Hearing reports that many #FBPE are getting shadow banned or short bans on twitter & don't understand why. This thread is intended to help you protect yourself. 1/n
1) What is a shadow ban? It is basically when you tweet & twitter don't send it to anyone at all. It happened to me at the weekend. Just silence. No notifications, & all you get on your home page is recipes for carrot cake. They can do a partial one. A full one is scary. 2/n
If it happens, ask a few friends to find you & retweet you, this helps send the message that people DO want to see what you send - it helps. 😀

Why do these things happen? Basically bc you are being reported for breaking the rules. 3/n

Backed by 70% of voters (#LocalElections2018) our two major parties aim to take UK down to the minor leagues of sub-#G20 growth, supported by NO detailed plans as to the costs, complexities & consequences of such bizarre recklessness. Not just insane, but amazingly short-sighted!
2. Is this a case of who blinks first? Surely I, and fellow well-informed remainers, are not in exclusive possession of key economic facts and trends? Con/Lab MUST have these too? Maybe everyone should check the latest @guardian piece by @williamnhutton!
3. People who think Brexit (in any form!) would be easy, painless or cost-free are very sorely deluded! Maybe the 70% who just voted Con/Lab in #LocalElections2018 should have been asking 'that question' of their wannabe councillors? before parting with their votes? Too late now!

1.#A50Challenge disputes the govt's claims that a 'decision' to leave the EU has been made 'in accordance with [our] constitutional requirements'. The underlying assumptions of that decision haven't been tested in court. THREAD explaining why the ref result isn't a decision #FBPE
2. In 2011 the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Act was legislated during the 1st Cameroon govt. It was unique as it was a 'madatory' referendum. The same administration legislated for the Referendum Act 2015 as an 'advisory' ref; 2011 bound parliament 2015 didn't.
3. The 1975 ref process was different. It was, what's termed as, a post-legislative ref. In other words, Parliament voted for EC membership, then legislated for the Referendum Act 1975. The assent of the people (67% to 33%) then made that result binding; theoretically.

#ABTVtoStopBrexit isn't about affecting the balance of power or forcing a General Election. #ABTV is about sending a message to the Tories, and *especially* to Labour that people don't support *any* #Brexit. Not a #HardBrexit, #SoftBrexit, #NoDealBrexit, #Lexit, or *any* Brexit.
The Tory's control more than half of councils, nearly double Labour. Losing control of even half of them is unrealistic, and even if it happened under fixed term government I can all but guarantee it won't result in a General Election.
A Prime Minister calls a GE under two circumstances:
1) They are miles ahead in the polls and think they can increase their majority (as in 2017)
2) They have suffered a humiliating defeat or scandal.

1. So, illegal/ruinous Brexit being pushed by HMG with no plan B & dead against latest WOTP. In other news, deportations of aged long-stay black residents continue & BBC 'pops up' with Full Monty of Enoch Powell racist speech from 50 yrs ago. Britain NOW neither Great nor United!
2. A grim co-incidence of unwelcome home/foreign events makes it more likely that both Houses of Parliament will find a way to #StopBrexit2018 - now that its implications look even less appealing to British voters, on the back of an #Euref vote that looks ever less safe & valid!
3. If both Houses of Parliament don't #StopBrexit2018, what's at stake for the UK?
a Economy will be trashed
b Union will be broken
c NHS will be privatised
d State benefits will be slashed
e National debt crisis will provoke yet more currency devaluation + higher inflation.
