#Dalitwomen are most often victims/survivors of sexual abuse, including of those that are not always legally identified as crimes. And the law has failed us. Progressive communities haven’t responded adequately either. It has been a lonely battle and will continue to be so.
Stories of sexual abuse, especially those that name Dalit men, are therefore uniquely triggering for us. We stand by the survivors, like we all need to, unequivocally, because we are victims ourselves.
We believe the victims, their EVERY WORD, because we’ve lived through the experience of being dismissed as liars so often, by friends and allies alike.

Who is paying the price for #intercaste marriages in India? And why is this being touted as an anti-caste strategy? Questions and Thoughts.
Disclaimer: Twitter is obviously not a great place for nuance, but I'm going to try.
Also note that I'm not against #intercaste marriages. Ideally, we should all get married to whomever we please as long as they are an adult and are consenting. If you conclude that I'm casteist or pro-endogamy from any of my tweets, it's on you.
Let's first understand that not all intercaste marriages are problematic to India's casteist society. Many #intercaste savarna couples lead happy lives while telling the world how progressive their families are. Their weddings are pretty fun too...

I still don’t buy this core voter disenchantment theory after #ByPollResults . One month back the same core Voter brought BJP from 40 to 104. I have some questions for on-twitter BJP Core supporters who claim loss is due to “core voters” losing faith in Modi . #KairanaByPolls
Some ‘Core Voters’ are educated people. Their friendships extend, like mine, across religions, even though their commitment to Hinduism is unquestionable. They demand like old Hindi film’s heroine’s dad that Modi mustn’t have Muslim friends. Is it plausible in politics?
From what we see here, even from Muslims voting en-masse for temple-hopping Congress is their trust in appeasement parties isn’t ephemeral and conditional like ‘core Hindu voters’. If he tries to even win one Muslim heart, Hindus will stand stiff claiming either him or me.

This reminds me of a 1920's story from Kerala.

Alummoottil Channar was the richest Ezhava in Travancore to own a car. But when the car approaches the Mavelikkara temple road, Alummoottil always had to get out of the car and make a detour along the bylanes. (1/n)
The Ezhavas and Dalits in Kerala were not allowed to cross Temple Entrance or the house of Upper castes.

The Historic Vaikom Satyagraha of 1924 aimed at securing freedom of movement for all sections of society through the public roads leading to the Mahadevar Temple at Vaikom.
Coming back to Alummoottil Channar story.

Since Alummoottil was from the backward Ezhava caste, Alummoottil could not find anyone from his caste to be employed to drive the car. Alummoottil was forced to employ an upper caste Nair as his driver.

As a leader of ABVP in JNU, I've known Umar Khalid for over four years. His strategy has always been of provoking Dharmic people by insulting their faith (Mahishasur shahadat) and nationalism (Afzal Guru shahadat)
#BhimaKoregaonViolence #Dalit #MaharashtraCasteClash #Chembur
Once provoked cos of his outrageous insults,Dharmic people react-most often violently n thus he plays victim card thanks to support in "liberal" media. His strategy has always been divisive on caste and communal lines

#BhimaKoregaonViolence #Dalit #MaharashtraCasteClash #Chembur
Solution is not fall prey to his divisive tactics. It requires long term intervention like JNU admin did after 9th February, "Bharat tere tukde honge.Insha Allah!" tamasha of Umar Khalid

JNU VC @mamidala90 acted v strictly with heavy fines on anti nationals n broke their spine.

In Delhi a 11 month old girl died because the hospital refused to treat her without an #Aadhaar card.

In Chandigarh, a woman was refused #abortion because she did not have an Aadhaar. She sought a back alley abortion and suffered extreme bleeding and complications.

3/n. HIV+ women in India have stopped their treatment as hospitals demand the biometric Aadhaar. The women fear loss of anonymity & social stigma on them and their families.…
