So. For More Than Night, our upcoming urban fantasy game, we're looking at doing a persistent chat-based game on our Discord. Partly to playtest new ideas, partly just to have fun. If you're interested in getting in on the ground floor discussions, join!

My current plan is to have #MoreThanNight support three basic play styles mechanically:

1) A small group tabletop style environment.

2) A mid-sized dramatic LARP environment.

3) A large-sized persistent chat sandbox environment.
Ideally, you should be able to shift seamlessly between play styles. If you have an organized LARP between a few cities, you should be able to use the persistent sandbox material to handle "downtime" between events. Or the tabletop to handle small-scale covens and gangs.

And now, #maschinezeit second edition is available for sale. It's a perfect game for your October/Halloween spooky one-shot game.

Short thread talking about #maschinezeit. Bear with me.
It's a much shorter book than the original. The game was supposed to be good for one-shots. The original took forever to get to the meat of the game. We felt that we had to make the book bigger to appease audiences. This time? Super tight and barebones.

So if I can get at least, like, ten people interested, I am thinking of setting up a San Jenaro community on Discord. Basically, super lax, for talking whatever weird and geeky shit, but with my general level of bullshit tolerance. Would anyone be into something like that?
Ideally I would also use it for things like an RP server, to discuss game design when I am doing #MoreThanNight, and whatever else. But, geek community I'm ultimately curating is the goal.
Actually, join up, yo. I guess that's the best way to, you know, see if people want to join up.

I had someone ask me about gender and sexuality representation in #MoreThanNight. My official stance: there may be some cis hetero characters. But only if it makes sense. I won’t just add them for quotas or for tokenism and never if it’s at the story’s expense.
And look. I’m not opposed to cishets. I just don’t think they have to be shoehorned into everything. I’m not a bigot. I am okay with straight marriage! Jeez
Actually in my second novel, #iHunt, the character Denny was cishet. I didn’t mention it in the text, but it was intended.

So it’s really unfair to assume I don’t have straight representation in my works.
