As we approach the landmark 2019 election which will confirm if the new power elite in Govt will be willing to surrender power again, the role of @inecnigeria must henceforth be under continuous scrutiny and this righteous task is one on which patriots shouldn’t be deterred.
Democrats take it for granted that politicians are desperate in their quest to fulfil ambition by taking power, hence, the importance of an imperial arbiter.

If politicians in Nigeria are devious or desperate, why would Democracy need @inecnigeria?
The #OsunRerun and #OsunDecides elections have continued to haunt @inecnigeria, so much so that up till this moment as I tweet, INEC is still embarrassed to tweet the official results of the election as it always did in the past.

Yet we should believe they mean well for Nigeria?

And I don’t get this @inecnigeria’s use of Vice-Chancellor’s as Returning Officers - let clergy-persons do it instead.

Isaac Adewole as VC of UI was the RO in Lagos, announced APC as winner and went on to take a ministerial appointment under APC - how does this make any sense?
In Osun - most of the LGA ROs were from mainly one school in Ondo with their VC as the State RO - not even from different schools across the country: same school not far from the state.

I think #OsunDecides is a wake-up for us all to put @inecnigeria in the spotlight.
It would be fair for the public to know in advance who the Returning Officers for each state and LGA are - and for them to take a public oath of office or something: I’m just throwing out ideas here; bottomline is that @inecnigeria should become openly accountable.

Same way Oshiomhole felt after he declared lack of confidence in INEC’s conduct of his re-run election during the actual conduct of election, only to start praising Jonathan and INEC when he won.

If our pressure forces INEC to do the right thing and we win, pressure on🤓🤓
A lot of ideological clarity will be required in the coming days from all patriots - criticising INEC is to ensure that they do not constitute an impediment to democracy, but that they act as the unbiased electoral umpire that they are supposed to be.

If they do, we commend them
The pressure on INEC is not even so much about #OsunDecides but to prevent INEC from declaring the general elections next year inconclusive and failing to declare PDP winner of PDP wins.

It’s better for INEC, for Nigeria and for everyone involved that INEC should do better.

My point exactly. The Chairman of @inecnigeria have two choices, either to release the result without manipulations and allow the will of the people stand or indict himself and the entire INEC & the Buhari Regime. All eyes are peeled. History will be made regardless. #OsunDecides
INEC has no choice than to release the result by the way. A re-run will be costly in all ramifications. I’ve looked. There is no other choice.
According to electoral rules, a re-run election can be so declared if the margin of victory in an election is lower than cancelled votes, such as in Osun where thousands of votes were cancelled in various LGs while the difference between the leading candidates was over 300.

This allegation MUST be critically looked into by @inecnigeria if they hope to win the trust of Nigerians towards 2019. Transparency and accountability begins here is he contrived unity of Nigeria is to be maintained beyond 2019. Do the needful. This is too glaring. #OsunDecides
Failure to show the competency in organizing a credible election and collation in a single state is ominous of what to expect in a critical National election cone 2019. Make a believer of us all and be accountable. Correlate what you signed off on with the result announced.
We care less about the acronyms, just respect the will and decision of the people. Ruining our democracy to appease any political party at the expense of the electorate is a crime that can ABORT us all from the womb of democracy. Do the needful and avoid chaos. #OsunDecides

THREAD: Friends, ahead of @EiENigeria and partners debate with Osun Guber candidates, let's have a quick review of Osun State Finances.

You will notice that Osun State receipts from FAAC has dwindled. From a Net FAAC Allocation of N46bn in 2013 to N10.4bn in 2017. #OsunDecides
Oil prices started falling in 2014, a big challenge for Osun State has been its accumulation of debt not linked to growth in internal revenues. Total Debt Stock moved from N51bn in 2013 to N167bn as at 2017. #OsunDecides
The big challenge for Osun State is the direct DEDUCTIONS by CBN before it earns FAAC allocation.

According to BudgIT Research, Osun gross allocation between 2015 and 2017 is meant to N109bn. However, N73bn was deducted leaving the state to receive on N36.5bn. #OsunDecides
