Okay all, let's talk about this real quick and it's implications for the so-called #SocialJusticeStatement .

Let's start by noting that the name "Stan Hannon" is a misspelling.

As can be seen at this link (…) his name is, in fact, Stan *Hannan* (thread)
First, let's talk about Stan's biography a bit.

The scant details given on the church website about his military service (…) along with what @JustinPetersMin has said give us enough info to research exactly what Stan's role was in the Rhodesian military.
Also, real quick shout out to @C_Stroop and @anxiousoracle for their work researching this.

@anxiousoracle did most of the legwork on the research front, and I am building off that work here.

Now, back to our friend Pastor Stan.

The main point I’m focusing on in my book is that we can learn about God through black girls’ realities and lives. This is a notion often rejected. The idea that we can learn about God through a young black girl?
One thing I’m noticing is that when it comes to the black experience in general, the idea that one can be “taught” anything from the black experience is rejected by white supremacy.
The underlying sentiment is, the audacity of Colin Kaepernick to teach America anything about protest.

The underlying sentiment of the #socialjusticestatement is, the audacity of these people to teach us anything about the nature of Jesus and the gospel.

Logging online only to say:

I don’t want to hear a single “egalitarian” who does not affirm LGBT+ people attempt to speak against the #SocialJusticeStatement.

Don’t pretend to be indignant when you are still complicit in the systems that made this possible. Save it.
Say you affirm PoC all you want.
Say you affirm women all you want.

But what about trans women theologians?
Married gay Hispanic men?
Black lesbian partnered clergy?
Nonbinary bisexual people in seminary?
If your feminism isn’t intersectional, it is folly. Even more: It’s actively oppressive.

Cry persecution all you want; this isn’t “gatekeeping” or “bullying.” Your beliefs cause domino effects that eventually lead to discrimination, violence, genocide, & suicide of Queer people.

I’m not a tiny bit surprised by what this includes. I am quite a bit surprised by how blatant it has become.

This is the one of the first solid, self-driven nails in the coffin of Evangelical Christianity‘s irrelevance.
The #SocialJusticeStatement is a hard line in the sand for any progressive, justice-oriented Christian who has attempted to work with evangelicals in the past. They will no longer accept your work. They will no longer accept your driving beliefs.
In the #SocialJusticeStatement evangelicals have successfully severed any practical ties to mainstream Christianity and their version of this religion will die with them. I’m flabbergasted and, in a way, a little relieved.
