1/ @alexhevans recently dug into the numbers behind forks of #Bitcoin, #Ethereum, #Monero & #Zcash.

Main conclusion: Value can’t be forked away as easily as people like to think. placeholder.vc/blog/2018/9/17…
2/ Secondary conclusion: Despite parent #cryptonetworks retaining users, devs & value, the child forks trade at (puzzling) relative valuation premiums.
3/ To follow are graphs and conclusions from @alexhevans that are relevant to specific actors or ratios (if you're not a fan of long form writing 😉)

One of the most robust explorations I've read on the economic & game theoretic limits of #Bitcoin & #PoW more broadly: nber.org/papers/w24717
Sorry for the paywall, but the paper is well worth the $5. Makes me think of hybrid #PoW & #PoS as a potential solution (part of the thinking around our $DCR investment), as research for pure #PoS is ongoing.
Paper confirmed my concerns around what on-chain transaction fees may have to be when the coinbase reward goes to zero (to accomodate 0% rate of inflation). Depending on assumptions: $18,700 to $37,400 to $108,700 per txn.

1/ There are two kinds of very intelligent people I see in #crypto privacy. One group naturally gets privacy and the other deeply struggles with it. Surprisingly, much of it boils down to personality.
2/ The intelligent people who don't get privacy are generally optimistic about human nature. They tend to view people as basically good and they have a tendency to see the best in others. They are often overly honest, trusting, and kind.
3/ Many of them you could probably look at and correctly guess that they don't jay walk even if the streets are empty.

To them, privacy is largely about keeping your personal life and business dealings confidential from others. LE and govt aren't considered bad actors.
