On fatherhood and its link to why we must ensure we #stopbrexit and the #Remainernow campaign.
1/14
Early on Thursday my 2nd daughter was born & she is doing well.
Any of you who are parents will appreciate the feelings of pride & affection I have experienced for the last few days. Many will also appreciate the desire as a father to give your child the best future you can 2/14
My 1st child was born in the build up to the #EUref and turned 3 months of the day of the vote.
As a result of being a new father, being complacent & having never been political before, I didn’t campaign in 2016 apart from sharing many of anti-brexit articles on Facebook! 3/14
When the result of #EURef came I was gutted & was seriously concerned as to what it would mean. Partly for my wife & my economic future, partly for the stability of the country I love but mainly for what brexit could mean for my 3m old’s future & the loss of opportunities! 4/14
For the first few days after the result I could not understand it, I could not believe how other parents (& grandparents) could vote for something that i could see would severely damage the UK’s influence in the world & limit their kids opportunities.
That view soon changed!
5/14
I soon realised that most leave voters wanted exactly the same as I did, a better future for them & their kids. It’s just they thought that due to the promises of vote leave: like NHS windfall, great new trade deals, kicking Westminster etc that leave was the better choice. 6/14
Anyway, I vowed back in June 2016 I would do what I can to not let my daughter down by failing to oppose what I see as a national disaster (as I felt I had done prior to EURef).
I was adamant that those who misled so many about #brexitreality would not get away with it. 7/14
Before I started this initiative in December I did a bit (like getting involved with a political party & @MoreUnitedUK & getting back involved on twitter and then #FBPE) but not nearly enough.
It was the scan of my second that made me realise I must do much more for my kids. 8/14
In the years to come I want to be able to look my kids in the eye & say I did what I could to oppose this utter #brexitshambles that our govt are pursuing & some opposition politicians are letting happen. Every bit of #brexit news makes me more & more sure I must do this! 9/14
And, do you know what, I know that many of the regretful leavers who have kids feel the same. Now they’ve become aware of Brexit reality as facts emerge, they are such vocal #Remainernow for the exact same reasons. It’s why many are backing #peoplesvote with #remain option 10/14
From looking at just some of the realities of what brexit will mean, whether the future affects of cost to economy per #brexitimpactpapers or harm already caused to household incomes or NHS. It is clear to me we must succeed in getting uk to change course & #stopbrexit 11/14
So as I sit here with my 3 day old daughter on my chest, I ensure you that for her & her sister’s sake that, on top of providing for my family financially & emotionally in the way many do, I will also not quit in trying to ensure their futures are protected from #brexit 12/14
So I will endeavour to keep celebrating those open minded leave voters who are now joining the opposition to #brexit, doing what I can to get their voices heard to help ensure MPs can not rely on the poor will of the people argument to do something they know is bad for U.K. 13/14
I will campaign locally here in South Buckinghamshire (a new anti-brexit group is in process of being formed) & I will be at the #stopbrexit / #peoplesvote march on 23.6.18, & I will be doing it for my 2 little girls .
I hope to see many of you there.
Ps. Forgot to add my 65 year old Dad has not been to a political protest since the apartheid, but he said to me yesterday, “are you going to the anti-brexit March at end of June, if so I will join I feel I need to do at least something against this for my 4 grandkids” #stopbrexit

So @theresa_may says she is going to deliver the “brexit people voted for”.
I have a few questions about how she is going to do that and in asking them I will be assisted by just a small sample of people that voted leave who are pretty clear she won’t. #remainernow

So @theresa_may what brexit will you deliver and which people will it please?
Firstly, whatever it is, it won’t be the brexit that 16.4 million opposed in 2016, nor what was wanted by @The3Million EU citizens that or so many @BritishInEurope that were denied a vote!
(2)
.@theresa_may will it be the brexit that all those who voted leave in protest against the establishment/the Tory party (like these ⬇️ guys).
Does this mean you are going to reform our electoral system in brexit so we have PR and U.K. politics becomes less London centric? (3)
Here is Jon, her voted leave but now has seen the lies of the #leave campaign become clear & is a #RemainerNow
Respect @jonnywoo34 -so many feel like you! Thanks for speaking out & keep doing so!
Let’s hope MPs have courage to put country before party & start opposing #brexit

Delia here decided to talk about her #brexit regret first thing Christmas morning. She sets out her reasons for her #leave vote in a number of tweets which I will thread below. All good reasons but now wants to #Remain - reason 1 ⬇️ #FBPE#stopbrexit

The good thing that Delia has done is being brave in coming forward on such a divisive issue. She has joined so many that are coming forward in saying she is a #remainernow - here ⬇️ is reason 2 for her original vote.

As Delia says here ⬇️ as someone who works in & cares about the #nhs she wanted to give it £££ (completely understandable) but like others she wasn’t aware this promise would not be honoured nor was she aware of the complexities like the Irish border!

Here is more from Stephen following his visit to Germany. Highlights the ideologues lies that EU will give us a good deal as they need us more than we need them.
