1. The Ref MPs voted for was advisory
2. Cameron then made it binding in the minds of voters who don't understand the niceties of our constitution, which was shabby & underhand of him, because he created a political imperative to take the Ref advice

Parliament never formally made the decision to leave, but gave Mrs May the power to trigger #Article50 through the shameful A50 Bill (launched before its rubbish White Paper was released), which converted Parliament into an irrelevant rubber stamp in the #Brexit process.

@TomTugendhat @Andrew_Adonis 4. Under pressure from the Economic Ruin Group (ERG), Mrs May triggered A50 prematurely, without impact assessments and, crucially, without agreement in her party as to what form #Brexit should take, let alone a plan.

@TomTugendhat @Andrew_Adonis 5. Utterly cretinous though this was (and I cannot belabour the point enough; it's got to be the stupidest decision any government has taken, anywhere in the world, in my lifetime), it means Cam's sham promise has been honoured.

@TomTugendhat @Andrew_Adonis 6. Mrs May then decided to hold a snap election (after denying she would 9x, apparently on "thick as mince" David Davis' advice). Despite not winning (in a hung parliament, no party does), your party then embarked on a programme of further undermining democracy.

@TomTugendhat @Andrew_Adonis 7. I say further undermining democracy, because having MPs agree to a Ref without constitutional safeguards since it's ADVISORY, then converting it into a de facto binding instrument via the back door is one of the biggest frauds ever perpetrated on the British public.

@TomTugendhat @Andrew_Adonis 8. See attached slide for the ways in which government has chipped away at our constitution and our democracy. What was really astonishing was the then Justice Minister Liz Truss' failure to stand up for our judiciary when persecuted by the Daily Mail in an appalling attack.

This cowardice was later matched by Mrs May when MPs, including yourself, were attacked by The Telegraph & your female colleagues further targeted by FB dark ads masterminded by Thomas Borwick's outfit — until Remainers raised a clamour on social media in their defence.

@TomTugendhat @Andrew_Adonis 10. PM disrespects anyone who didn't vote #Leave (Tom Brake 3-Nov-2017: "Asked May when she’d start standing up for the 48%. She said she’s ‘standing up for the people who voted Leave.’)

11. It didn't have to be like this. PM could've followed Norway's "consensual" example.

@TomTugendhat @Andrew_Adonis 12. Sadly, this govt's approach to the negotiations has been amateurish, with Mrs May (again under the malign influence of the ERG) tying herself in knots with her red lines.

13. May has left herself no room to manoeuvre, but maliciously blames EU for her predicament.

@TomTugendhat @Andrew_Adonis 14. Fast forward to the present, and we now know #VoteLeaveBrokeTheLaw, Vote Leave / BeLeave / Leave EU all cheated, #CambridgeAnalytica used military-grade psy-ops on up to 7mn British voters and there was interference from both Russia & USA.

The Ref's outcome is unsafe.

16. Why should law-abiding citizens, who respect the rule of law, accept Constitutional upheaval & economic/familial dislocation based on a corrupt Ref?

@TomTugendhat @Andrew_Adonis 17. The Venice Convention, to which UK is a signatory, calls for corrupt Refs to be re-run. In an amazing stunt of tautology, Govt says it doesn't apply, because the Ref has now become 'advisory' again!

It's astonishing "the party of law & order" is turning a blind eye!

Let them. Then arrest them.

There's no mandate for the harsh hard Brexit of Chequers or ERG insane 'no deal' Brexit (which LeaveHQ sd no responsible Govt would allow)

Even if you ignore the illegality + corruption surrounding the Ref, and the unfairness of excluding Britpats, despite breaking your 'vote for life' manifesto pledge (why is that acceptable?), you can't deny that the Brexit we're getting is NOTHING like the one promised!

@TomTugendhat @Andrew_Adonis 20. We were promised "not 1 job will be lost due to Brexit", a deal with "the exact same benefits as now" and that said deal would be the easiest to negotiate in history (a day-and-a-half, said Liam Fox).

Govt doesn't have a mandate for any other sort of #Brexit, but —

- a state of emergency
- food/medicine shortages
- power outages
- Heathrow closed 2mths
- Major industries moving jobs & investment to EU27
- Decline in GDP, jobs & opportunities for the young for 50yrs

2. huge gap between the #Brexit promised & the one we're getting
