Pleased to announce a slate of #DirtyRubles Trump/Russia events, on three of the next five Sundays:
The event in Madison, my hometown, is taking place at an undisclosed secret location [insert Dick Cheney joke here]. If you'd like to come, you need to RSVP:

cc: @reallymdp @Post_Truth_Era @CodyStumpo
The Woodstock event is at one of my favorite bookstores in all the world, The Golden Notebook @we_love_books.

Last time I was there, I bought FANTASYLAND by @KBAndersen, one of the best books I've read in recent memory.

Let's talk about the Putin/Alt-Right/GOP propaganda machine—the REAL Devil's Triangle—as it relates to Brett #Kavanaugh:

[THREAD]
1/ This cozy little messaging arrangement, which operates happily in the dark most of the time, is now being exposed because of the fatally flawed candidate Donald Trump has nominated to the Supreme Court.
2/ The problem with Kavanaugh is manifold: first, that he had six-figure credit card debts paid off by creditors whose identity we still don’t know; second, that he lied during his initial testimony...

So Trump sees this as a binary, us-or-them, Manichean choice: with him or against him?

He is, for once, exactly right.

You're pro-Trump, or you're pro-America. No third option.

Silence is tacit approval of Trump.

Let's take a closer look:

[THREAD]

1/ Trump is a recidivist sexual assailant & rapist, a serial bankrupter of businesses, a proud white supremacist, & a wholly owned subsidiary of the Russian mob. He cares about himself, & ONLY himself. Watch, in the days ahead, when he turns on his kids, and proves my point.
2/ The idea that this numbskull, who requires the hand of Theresa May to guide him down a flight of stairs, is Winston Churchill 2.0 is laughable. Trump is a coward and NOT a real conservative.

Let’s clear up a few things about Trump, as we head into Labor Day weekend.

[THREAD]
1/ Trump is NOT going to fire Jeff Sessions. Nazi Keebler Elf remains popular with GOP, and Trump has said repeatedly he hates him b/c of the Russia recusal. Firing Sessions = egregious obstruction.
2/ If Trump fires Sessions anyway, well, please re-visit this thread on what happens if he moves against Mueller:

Yesterday was a big day for democracy, for the rule of law, and for the United States. But with so much breaking news, it's a lot to process. Let's try and keep it straight.

[THREAD]
1/ First and foremost: Trump/Russia is real. It is not a witch hunt. It is not a conspiracy theory. It is not cooked up by a fraudster on 4Chan. It's real. Trump conspired with Russia. He did. That none of yesterday's 16 guilty pleas directly finger Russia is irrelevant.
2/ Anyone who went around yesterday with "But there was no Russia" as a talking point is a desperate Trumpist collaborator, negligently muddying the waters when things should now be clearer. (Looking at you, @LindseyGrahamSC and @mschlapp.)

Right before my vacation, I was interviewed by @Salon, which called #DirtyRubles "a riveting, infuriating and, against all the odds, uplifting book. It's essential reading for all Americans."

ICYMI, I wanted to share some of the highlights:

salon.com/2018/07/28/wri…
1/ On Trump's criminality:

"I think it’s hard for people to square the avuncular guy on TV who cracked jokes and fired people with the real Donald J. Trump. The truth is, the guy’s been mobbed up for DECADES, with ties to both La Cosa Nostra and Russian organized crime....
2/ "...Trump is a money launderer for the latter, and has been for quite some time. 'Money laundering' sounds cute, like something Danny Ocean and his merry men do, but it’s a euphemism for something unspeakable."

OK, a bunch of stuff has happened in the last few weeks, and I'm just back from vacation, so I'm going to do a little impromptu Trump/Russia round-up, just to keep everything straight in my own head.
1/ First, Alex Jones and #InfoWars. The guy admitted, in a court of law, that he was a performance artist who didn't believe any of the crap he was peddling. That was last year. Why are we only now realizing that he's a BS artist & con man? Better late than never, I guess.
2/ The MAGA pundipshits are now re-aligning themselves w/r/t #QAnon. Do they believe Q or not? This is like a crew of hateful Easter Bunnies voting on whether or not the Tooth Fairy is real.

I've read my fair share of conspiracy stuff, and Q is a BAD conspiracy theorist.

Let's talk about the Trump Tower Meeting of 9 June 2016.

We are spending too much time on Giuliani, not enough on the facts.

[THREAD]
1/ The subject line of the email sent to Junior, Manafort & Kushner was: "RE: RUSSIA - CLINTON - PRIVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL." So they all knew well in advance what the meeting was going to involve. Junior has admitted as much.
2/ It has long been suspected that Trump himself knew all about it in advance. As I'm not the first to point out, it's unthinkable that a meeting w/Putin's people, at Trump Tower, could be attended by Manafort, Kush & Jr w/o 45's knowledge.

By popular demand, the audiobook version of #DirtyRubles is now available at Audible, Amazon, and iTunes.

Below are some reasons why you should give it a listen.

If you would share this and help spread the word, I’d be most obliged. Spasibo!

1/ Any doubt about Trump’s utter subservience to Putin was erased on Monday in Helsinki, when the former capitulated to the latter. Trump/Russia is more timely than ever. Everyone needs to be informed.

#TreasonSummit
2/ It’s cheaper than the book. And iTunes is cheaper than Amazon. $5.99? That’s what I paid for the "Seven and the Ragged Tiger" cassette at Sam Goody’s in 1983!

As the "president" meets in private with his patron, and Trump's treason becomes more egregious and impossible to deny, shall we do a roll call of sedition?

#TreasonSummit
1/ Clearly @SpeakerRyan is a traitor to his country. Thanks for selling us all out, Paul! I hope the ghost of Ayn Rand is happy about your sedition!
2/ You there @DevinNunes! You are a traitor to the country. Did you notice that the indictments on Friday upgraded the charge to treason? And do you know the penalty for that? Your pathetic attempts to obfuscate were futile, traitor. We know.

A few #DirtyRubles housekeeping items.

1/ The audio files are now in the hands of Audible, so the audiobook version of #DirtyRubles will be available within the next week or two. I'll advise when it is up and ready to roll.
2/ Starting in about five minutes, we will be having a Fourth of July special on the e-book version of #DirtyRubles. All day, starting at 8am PST (if the tech works correctly), the book will be 99 cents.
3/ The #DirtyRubles e-book has links to the various news articles and stuff. Obviously this was not possible in the paperback version. So it's worth having for that.

Also, it's short enough to read on a laptop without your back breaking. Even if you don't have a Kindle.

Back to the topic of this feed: #TrumpRussia.

Trump supporters and apologists MUST come to grips with the fact that their hero lied about Russia, over and over and over again.

If I'm wrong about #collusion, then WHY did he do this?

[THREAD]
1/ Throughout the campaign, during the transition period, and after inauguration, Donald Trump and his surrogates vehemently denied meeting with Russians of any stripe, for any purpose. Every time, they shot it down.
2/ And the Trumpists were indignant about it. The response was always something along the lines of, “Russia? Us? How dare you accuse us of such a thing!”

They never offered an explanation of why they did it. They just denied it. As if they knew it was wrong.

The mood seems a bit bleak this morning. Let's put this into proper perspective, shall we?

1/
This piece of Fascist drivel from @GOPChairwoman Romney No More is a bit offputting, I'll allow:

But, I mean, the @GOP is implicated here, via the @NRA. When Trump falls, they fall too. So they're increasingly desperate b/c they know the end of near.
2/
Tomorrow, the TRUMP CAMPAIGN CHAIR from May thru August 2016, when all the sweetest collusion went down, will go to prison & probably never leave...unless he turns on Trump.

We're numb to the corruption now, but think about that for a second. Really ponder it.

Unspinnable!

Let's talk about Paul Manafort. (Trump sure seems to want to.)

[THREAD]
1/ With the possible exception of Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort is THE most important figure in Trump/Russia.

Take away Manafort, and Trump isn't president. It's that simple. To wit:
2/ Trump and Manafort have known each other for decades. The latter introduced the former to Tom Barrack, years ago, and it was Barrack who suggested Trump have Manafort join the campaign.

Let's talk about the "known unknowns" of Trump/Russia—things we expect to find out, sooner or later.

[THREAD]
1/ In Nov 2013, Trump was in Russia for the Miss Universe pageant. We know that, despite several attempts to muddy the timeline, Trump spent at least one night at the Ritz Moscow hotel. We do not yet know with whom he spent that night, or the activities in which he was engaged.
2/ Trump’s real estate company recently purchased an inordinate amount of property in cash. We do not yet know why the “king of debt” suddenly reversed course and plopped down actual coin, nor do we know how such exorbitant sums were obtained.

I have written a short book called DIRTY RUBLES: AN INTRODUCTION TO TRUMP/RUSSIA, released today.

It’s a #TrumpRussia primer, similar in tone to my summary threads on here. I hope that it will be a useful resource.

[THREAD]
Writing a book about Trump/Russia is like jumping off a moving train.

Trump is a locomotive, hurtling down the tracks, spewing filth a mile a minute.

Instinctively we try and keep up.

But it’s necessary sometimes to stop, look around, and take stock of the situation.
#DirtyRubles is my attempt to do just that. It is a short book that presents an OVERVIEW of Trump/Russia.

Nothing fancy. Nothing complicated. Just a primer.

Trumpists can be organized into several categories:

1. Grifters: flat-out thieves.

2. Opportunists: careers advancers.

3. Ideologues: advocates of hateful policies.

4. Assets: Russian puppets.

5. Nutjobs.

There is some overlap.

[THREAD]
1/ Let's start from the bottom...and please forgive me, because I know I'm going to skip some obvious examples of all of these.

NUTJOBS
Ben Carson, Carter Page, Felix Sater, both Flynns, Roger Stone, most of 45's celebrity following, including Roseanne Barr. Sam Nunberg? Maybe.
2/
RUSSIAN ASSETS
Devin Nunes, Dana Russiabacher, Paul Manafort, Seb Gorka, Rex Tillerson, Jason Chaffetz.
