A thread on the #DemMemo I did some research on the #DemMemo last night. These are my observations. The #DemMemo labors hard to prove that the FBI had sufficient evidence, absent the FISA warrant, to label Carter Page as a Russian spy. First, we’ll look at what Page actually did.
#DemMemo In 2013, Page had a brief interaction with Victor Podobnyy, a Russian spy who was convicted in 2015 of not registering as a foreign agent. The FBI debriefed him and determined that he was unaware the Podobnyy was a spy. They had discussed energy-related information.
#DemMemo Page’s profession was in the energy finance industry, and he had extensive interactions with Russians for a lengthy period of time dating back to 2004, when he lived in Russia for about three years. He also had investments in the Russian energy company Gazprom.

Going thru #DemMemo in depth now. It admits the DOJ/FBI used the Steele dossier in its FISA warrant application (argues it made only “narrow” use of it):
Also admits it used the Steele dossier in “subsequent” FISA warrant renewals:
Says FBI never paid Steele “for this reporting” but doesn’t mention reimbursing his trip to Rome to meet w/FBI. Also confirms Grassley-Graham memo that FBI relied on Steele b/c of his “prior relationship.”

(1.) The #DemMemo has been released by Shifty Adam Schiff and the House Intelligence Committee. Some quick observations:

- It does not deny that the DOJ COULD NOT obtain a FISA warrant from Carter Page until it relied on the dossier.

- The #DemMemo is political and poorly prepared. Embarrassingly enough, handwritten changes had to be made to correct the number of FISA judges involved in the FISA process b/c Schiff got it wrong.

- It is clear from the #DemMemo that the DOJ failed to meet the required disclosure required of lawyers, which owe a duty of candor to a judge, particularly in seeking a criminal warrant.

TRUMP CHANGED HIS HEADER PHOTO… again. It may sound silly to mention it, but it IS important. Here’s why… (Thread)

We focus on his tweets – which is reasonable, considering how they could affect the entire frig'n planet – but when it comes to his header photos, we should 1/16
remember the old saying “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Trump spends an inordinate amount of time obsessing over his header photo. He’s like an adolescent teen, sometimes changing it twice in a week. His choices are telling. Let’s start at the beginning, for his first 2/16
header photo, Trump chose one of his inauguration… except that it was wasn’t his. The photo was taken during OBAMA'S inauguration. Trump changed it to a flag an hour later after being called out, & again after that, to one of himself gazing out the window, probably wishing 3/16
