1/ What I saw in #Lesvos today was truly shocking. As another winter approaches, the situation for thousands of #refugees trapped in a dangerous and desperate limbo on the island is totally unsustainable
2/ Conditions in #Moria camp are appalling - a stain on the conscience of Europe. Almost 7,500 people are jammed into a camp with an official capacity of 3,100. There is a lack of sanitation, insufficient clean drinking water, streams of raw sewage and infestations of mice & rats 
3/ Fatime, a woman who fled Afghanistan, told me that she does not feel safe in #Moria camp. “We spend twelve hours queuing for food. We came here to find protection and send our children to school. We didn’t come here to live in a jungle,” she said
This should grieve us. It is a historic low for the US. We must hope that the ceiling of 30k could be reached, though doubtful w/this POTUS. Through this weekend just under 22,000 #refugees had arrived in US(only 2 weeks remain in 2018 fiscal year)

Anyone who missed the piece earlier on @BBCr4today about #refugees on #lesbos please know there are many thousands of people crammed in appalling conditions into a camp intended for 2000, violence, little sanitation, NGOs reporting conditions to authorities but nothing changes.

In Malaysia, MIDF reports find youth unemployment to be high - hitting a record 10.8% last year, attributed to a skills mismatch.

After WWII, we as a country (including my grandfather, a WWII vet) felt we could never allow human rights to be violated as they had been under Hitler; they were concerned about the thousands of refugees in Europe as well as the millions of people slaughtered in the Holocaust.

I’m seeing a lot of mixed thoughts about the #SyriaStrikes. Most of them are incoherent and not very level-headed. Here is my humble attempt at the opposite.

Went to Azraq Refugee Camp in Jordan today. Official population at 53,967, according to @UNHCR as of February 2018. All Syrian #refugees.

The UNHCR are offering shelter to refugees across the world. Most of those crisis are forgotten emergencies. 236,000 Congolese refugees have fled in Uganda so far. With @Refugees I visited a settlement there, got to meet some of them, and they all had stories to tell. #refugee
Sammy : now blind after he has been persecuted and tortured in Congo. Now lives in a small house in Rwamwanja (the refugee settlement) with his wife. Speaks with a soft voice. Told me he likes to take walks at dusk, because there's less stridence.
Ashaka : young, promising dancer. He told me that there's a sense of violent interruption when you have to flee - your life's suddenly shattered, and then all you can do is wait. He often meets with other teenagers at Rwamwanja's Youth Center for music workshops.
