Google+, you burst on to the #socialmedia scene like a comet. A rubbish comet in a fermement of amazing comets but a comet nonetheless. As others said you were wonderful & important, selling their services on the back of you, I said you were rubbish. I take my share of the blame.
As you became a wasteground, we continued to see the charlatans say you were a vital part of the #socialmedia spend. You weren't. #Search was always more important - along with the other social networks. #Google does so many things so amazingly well but this was never one of them
But it seems to be that you lived your life like a candle in the wind,
slowly going nowhere while the Twitter gleamed
And I would have liked to know you
But you were just too bad
Your candle burned out long before
The budget ever did.

Please allow me a brief moment to put this Kavanagh issue into proper focus. A thead.
If you follow current events, even just casually, you probably noticed the Kavanagh nomination has been unprecedentedly pushed back on and obstructed in any and every possible way.
Just a brief recap:

.#AugustaGA "euthanized" an alligator in Lake Olmstead wfxg.com/story/38792486… Many people were bothered by this story, including myself. Only after watching a @pbs @PBSNature episode on people & lions in #Gujarat #India was I able to articulate why this seemingly trivial
event actually points to the larger issue of whether we humans are going to adapt to this planet or whether we are going to continue to act as if our choices have no consequences until this planet changes & boots us out. #IndiasWanderingLions pbs.org/video/nature-i… Rather than
change our behavior which resulted in an alligator inhabiting this lake or take measures to limit the risk it would cause harm, we humans killed it to eliminate the minor risk it posed. We again positioned ourselves *outside* of the biosphere, even though our lives would be

To all who expressed their admiration and love for @SenJohnMcCain during this incredible week, thank you.
@SenJohnMcCain This week was an amazing tribute to one of the greatest champions America and Freedom have ever known.

All those paying tribute did a magnificent job explaining the multifaceted life and story of @SenJohnMcCain.
@SenJohnMcCain The memorial service yesterday was an amazing tribute to one of the greatest statesman of our time — or any time — in American history.

The ceremony in Annapolis was a worthy, fitting tribute to one of the most distinguished graduates in the history of the U.S. Naval Academy.

What an icon. Aretha Franklin “Queen of Soul” moved us in every sense of the word. She brought Americans together, lifted our spirits and voices and feet. We’re better for her extraordinary gifts. #RESPECT #RIP

Let's take a moment and remember a great.
My aunt had a brief personal experience with Rodney Dangerfield my father once shared with me...
I LOVED Rodney Dangerfield!
Much respect 😍 #RIP
My aunt on her 16th birthday when to whatever club Rodney had a gig at in NJ or NY. This would be '69 or '70 (ish)
My aunt somehow sneaked into his dressing room, or perhaps green room, and she SAW Rodney! He was in a bath robe smoking a cigarette with a few other people...
Rodney turns to my aunt, obviously noticing her presence in the room and blurts out in typical Rodney fashion,

"Hey.. who let the kid in?"

My aunt ran out of there like lightning crying and extremely embarrassed. 😂
#truestory I can imagine... Hilarious!

The Simpsons, 1989 - 2018 #RIP 😢
I think the fact that they put this "argument" in the mouth of Lisa's character, the character who usually champions the underdogs and is supposed to be the most thoughtful and liberal, is what makes this the most ridiculous (as in worthy of ridicule) and toothless response.
My friend @harikondabolu made a beautiful & powerful film. It took guts to do it. He knew he was going after a sacred cow. (Pun intended.) He knew many people would just watch the trailer or see the poster or just hear the title & immediately just hate on it & him.

She was @MarielleFranco: a black, LGBT woman raised in one of Rio's poorest favelas, became a human rights activist, joined the socialist PSOL party, was elected in 2016 with a massive vote to Rio City Council. A hideous loss, & the possibility of assassination is real & chilling
Every now and then you meet someone in politics that makes you believe that the whole thing is worth it, despite all the dirt and decay and corruption that drowns it, that it can actually improve things for people. @mariellefranco was one of those people - for so many. #RIP
The conservative Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, @MCrivella, definitively states that the murder of Rio City Councilwoman @mariellefranco was an "assassination" - a "brutal assassination." The known circumstances permit virtually no other plausible conclusion. facebook.com/marcelocrivell…

#ZariaMassacre #MilitaryCoverup Issa Thread.

1. Mass slaughter of hundreds of men, women and children by soldiers in Zaria and the attempted cover-up of this crime demonstrates an utter contempt for human life and accountability, said Amnesty International
2. as it publishes evidence gathered on the ground revealing how the Nigerian military burned people alive, razed buildings and dumped victims’ bodies in mass graves.

#ZariaMassacre #MilitaryCoverup
3. The true horror of what happened over those two days in Zaria is only now coming to light. Bodies were left littered in the streets and piled outside the mortuary. Some of the injured were burned alive.
