Some of my opponents are too cozy with the Mayor to speak out about what's truly best for Scarborough - and that clearly isn't a subway.
The argument of "something is better than nothing" may be logically correct, but we are better than that. #Toronto has a serious fiscal problem so we need to use every penny as wisely as we can and a subway is an affront to that principle.

It’s interesting, this time 4 years ago several debates had already taken place. I also learned that many of the debates were specifically held for specific Candidates- a way to use the airwaves to promote if you will.

Must be said repeatedly while Tory is in office. In 2014, he promised 22 stations in seven years. Four years later there are no stations + SmartTrack has been cut drastically - it was never a real plan. No Warren Kinsella or Nick Kouvalis propaganda will change this. #topoli
SmartTrack wasn't just an off-the-cuff promise. It was Tory's central plank. He had a flashy website that told visitors - based on imagination - how much time they'd save commuting from stations that do not, and will never exist. This mayor does not deserve re-election. #topoli
That site is still up by the way: smarttracker.ca The western extension doesn't exist. Also, note a three-stop subway extension in Scarborough, which is now one stop at $3.5 billion (another Tory specialty), projected to go up. Virtually all of this was fantasy. #topoli

Another beautiful by-product of @JFAAP amazing event was that I got to meet D!ONNE/@OnElectionDay in person. Let me tell y'all I've been a BIG fan. How big? I saw a video recap of a Mayoral debate in Jane and Finch in 2014, where no Black candidates were invited to speak. #topoli
Well let me tell y'all, D!ONNE/@OnElectionDay wasn't having any of it. She was a Black Mayoral candidate, and the debate was in a Black and racialized community, she said, NAH. D!ONNE/@OnElectionDay crashed and interrupted that debate. I watched that video, over and over. #topoli
What made the non-invite worse was there were 4 chairs set up for the debate and the 4th candidate did not show up (Doug Ford), so D!ONNE/@OnElectionDay took that seat to be hers. I transcribed that video + put it in a paper, as a generative Rude Act (h/t @blacklikewho) #topoli
