What is so insidious is for years I believed I deserved to be fired. I perpetuated the lie. Like "Haha. I was SO bad on my first gig." I felt like a fraud. It's a persistent internalized convo that erodes self confidence & sows doubts in our abilities which is most damaging.
It wasn't until years later, because other people kept telling me I was a good writer that I finally believed it myself. Until then with each progressive success I always feared I would be exposed as a "fraud". The lingering damage lasts long after the assault. #BelieveSurvivors
