Fact: Most of the top #darkmoney groups are attack dogs. For 14 of the top 15 groups, more than 50% of their spending on ads overtly calling for the election or defeat of candidates from 2010 to 2016 was negative. For 6 groups, more than 90% was negative bit.ly/2QnsXFB
Top among these #darkmoney groups was the US Chamber of Commerce, which reported spending ~$130M on political ads to the #FEC between 2010 and 2016. That’s about $1 of every $6 spent on political ads by all dark money groups during this time. bit.ly/2QnsXFB

There are plenty of things about #ICE that need to be changed. But the only way to change that is by being in power. How can we not see that the idea to #AbolishICE can be used as a broad message of @TheDemocrats being anit-law enforcement and for #OpenBorders???
Just today, I was listening to the @MSignorile show, and he promoted #AbolishICE as a good slogan for Dems to run on. I would ask Mr Signorile to look at the political calculus for #RedState Dems who'll be forced to defend that rhetoric and oppose #Trump's #SCOTUS pick
#TheProblemWithPolitics is that the kind of people willing to run for office aren't the kind of people we need in office.* I saw this up close & personal, & it's even more ugly than you think. We need elected officials who mentor the next generation.

At the federal level, we keep sending professional fundraisers to office who are in it for ego or other selfish reasons. At the state & local level, people are consumed by grabbing & retaining power or territory. The larger purpose of serving is far too often lost.
Want to make money have less of a role in elections (assuming we don't overturn #CitizensUnited right away)? Local party orgs should establish a reasonable fundraising threshold candidates have to meet to be considered for endorsement, & then not consider money beyond that.
Our country desperately needs common-sense disclosure laws.

I'm back on the #soapbox. And I'm going to be on it a long time talking up #CitizensUnited until it sinks into the brain of everyone here. If we want a HOPE of restoring the #integrity of our #elections it MUST be overturned. #DarkMoney is overriding our voices in the ballot box. 
#CitizensUnited was and is the nail in the coffin to any pretense of #democracy. How do you think this #IllegitimateRegime was installed? #DarkMoney is the major culprit. Then there was the #Russian interference, #Hacking, #VoterSuppression and #Gerrymandering.
